Has anyone else noticed the similarites the Divinity series shares with Ultima 7-9?
Divine Divinity - Ultima 7: Forests, Grasslands, etc.
Beyond Divinity - Ultima 8: Bleak Wasteland
The untitled NextGen game (Probably Divinity 3 - Ultima 9: Full 3D landscapes.

I don't know the Ultima games, but I would say that this is a coincidence. What fantasy game doesn't have fields, forests and bleak landscapes?

I wouldn't call it a coincidence. Larian had Ultima in mind as a great example of good C-RPGs. I remember they wanted to show the player a bit of its spirit and freedom.

Yes you are right most fantasy games do have those, but the order in which Larian is introducing them to us is the exact same as Ultima 7-9.

They have taken some things from different types of RPG, and but em in one big mixer, blended it together and got Divine Divinity.
But things like they are making Divine Divinity 3D, have a lot more to do with evolution of pc games, then just because Ultima 9 is 3D.
