I'm in act 2 now, have the first BF key and have visited the merchants of the BF already.
So far, no one has been able to teach me the skill to charm my weapons. However, I do have may charmable items and charms as well, and I just can't wait to be able to combine them.
Did I miss someone or am I being too impatient?

Okay, here's what I found out. I also have X's over all charm slots. But as far as I know, there is no special skill needed to charm anything this time around. What you need to do is after you open a charm panel, drag the panel "outside" of your inventory panel so it is seperate from the inventory panel. For some reason, adding charms will not work if you keep the charm panel over the inventory panel. You should be able to add charms after doing this. And don't forget to save before you charm anything so you can reload if you don't like the result. Have fun!

BTW, here's the info on what the charms can do for you:

Prefix:
URU - Weak
SER - Small
MIN - Medium
PAG - Large
YIT - Very Large

Suffix:
YDRA - Strength boost
JOPH - Agility boost
VORR - Constitution boost
KOOR - Intelligence boost
ZAND - Survival boost
UMN - Vitality boost
ICERI - Magic Points boost
OOK - Regeneration boost
USTR - Evasion boost
ISOS - Durability boost

That is correct. The charm slots in BD look like the closed charm slots in DD, but they are available without a special skill and you can drag and drop charms into the charm window.

If you leave the charm window over the inventory window, clicking on a charm will bring the inventory window to the front, covering the charm window.

Alternately: charm effects

Hey Raze, thanks for the welcome! I don't usually post on any forums, but I needed the answer to the same problem myself. After no luck with online searches, and right after finding this persons post, I found the answer within the game. So I was more than happy to share what I discovered. Just got the game yesterday, BTW. I loved Divine Divinity and would say it is just about the best game of its kind I have ever had the pleasure to play. Actually, for me, it is the overall best. Other similar games can't even come close, as far as I am concerned, as to how well things were done in that game. As for Beyond Divinity, so far it isn't bad overall though there are some things I wish they had kept over from the first game. But I think I will enjoy the game overall. And I keep hoping they will come out with DD 2 before I die. Thanks again!

What? You mean I've been running around with tons of charms while I could have added them to my weapons and armour?!?
Am I glad I asked!
Thanks!

Me too. Some changes I liked, some things I would have kept from DD (or done differently). There is a similar topic in the DD suggestion forum: What would like to see again in Divinity II ?.

Preferably at least a couple months before, so you'll have time to play it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

I did the same thing at first, assuming I'd find a teacher somewhere. I wasn't in a rush to use the charms I had, though, since I was waiting to find better equipment.
