Here's what works for me:
I changed the Quick Save & Quick Load keys to F9 & F12, respectively. This way, I only have to press one key to QS or QL. This does help save some time (minuscule as it may be), and helps with the "immediate" Quick Load that you need right after dropping whatever it is that you want to duplicate. The only other thing to watch out for is make sure that where you are dropping the item DOES NOT have a RED X in the background. In Divine Divinity, you wanted the RED X and didn't have to drop anything. In Beyond Divinity, you don't want it and you have to drop everything. Go figure.
