I found this little gem after being sorely dissappointed by the bugs in
Restricted Area.
Decker is set in 2132. You are a wannabe professional hacker. You start off with small contracts, hacking into small computer systems to steal and erase files or disable security alarms. You move up into larger and more complex systems worth a lot more money. In between contracts, you can upgrade your skills, software and hardware. You also have to pay the rent which means you can't just sit around building the best computer all month.
The hacking plays like an adventure, moving from node to node (room to room) searching for your goal. ICE (Intrusion Countermeasure Elements) programs patrol the system. You must either deceive them, hide from them or crash them (kill them.)
The game is completely free and provided in as-is condition. I have only seen a couple of bugs in it, nothing fatal. Don't accept a "run program" contract for a level 1 system. You can't load the program. Read the help file before or while playing. It's a little tricky to get used to the controls and what things do.
It's loads of fun and one of the few cyberpunk RPGs I've found. If you like that genre, give it a go.
