Ok so I killed the vampire that killed Geroge, and then I talked to Mardeneus (but he is with the Council now) and I couldn't solve that quest to inform Mardeneus about George's murderer.

I also didn't get the quest for killing the vampire.

Any suggestions?

If you didn't speak to Mardaneus after George's murder and you killed the vampire nevertheless, you didn't trigger the quest, so you can't solve it. Happened to me once.

After George is murdered you have to talk to Mardaneus to get the quest to look for his killer.
When you find the vampire you have to talk to him to find out why he murdered George.
There are 2 vampires. The one that killed George is in Verdistis. The one that you get the quest to kill is in the Dark Cave. The quest appears after you save the boy, or not save him. Be sure you got the right one.

I might as well post this, in the quarantined section in Divine Divinity there are 3 people who need a cure, I found 2 but not a third, I haven't found any info on this quest anywhere...

You can only cure two people unless you use the duplication trick.

Bigmit37;

Did you go through all the speech options with the vampire before becoming aggressive?

Did you refuse to get George the Drudanae herb at the start of the game? That will break the murder quest, even if you later bring him his fix.

SirChronos;

You can also pickpocket (level 2 required, IIRC) a potion back from a cured person to use on the third, or kill one of them (no drop in reputation) so they drop the potion.

It's been a while...since I stopped playing the game for a few months and just picked it up again.

Lets see, I think I went through the speech options.

I honestly don't remember if I got George the herbs.

I remember going to the dark cave, finding out that he killed George(I think he informs of killing George) and saved the boy by letting him suck my blood.

Then I went to the cellar of the wine merchant and fought the vampire.

I killed him.

Next thing I remember is doing the council quest, getting Mardenous out of the locked room in the first village.

He is then transported to Council shrine (temple etc) and I speak to him, but I don't get an option to inform him of the George's murder.

That's a different vampire. You have to have the conversation with the one in the cellar of the wine merchant. It sounds like you missed that part of it.

Actually I talked to that one. In my long post, above I stated that I fought the one in the wine cellar.

Arg, I just hope I didn't lose too much experience from these quests.
I just got my [nocando] handed with the Elven Ruin quest. (That's why I am picking up other quests)

You are not missing much experience by not being able to complete the murder quest, though Mardaneus would have taught you a level of Restoration (again, not a huge loss).

Josephine is generally considered to be the most difficult opponent in the game, but there are various techniques to defeat her.

I am at level 30, and it seems a bunch of these posters, have some of their magics maxed out. I don't have any of my magics maxed out at the moment.

I think I made a screwed up build. I will find a way though.

Yes, I saw that. You also said you thought the one in the cave was George's murderer. So I'm not sure what to think. It's possible to ask the one in the cave about George mistaking him for the other vampire, but he won't know what you're talking about. You mention talking to the one in the cave and killing the one in the cellar. But did you also kill the one in the cave and talk to the one in the seller?

LOL. Ok lets see. It's been a few months since I had started up the game again.

I killed the one in the cellar but the one in the cave just sucked my blood and ran off somewhere.

I thought they were the same person. I talked to the one in the cellar. (I am pretty sure about that)...and I was informed about George's murderer, but when I talk to Mardenueus, I don't get an option to solve the quest, "Inform Mardeneus of George's murderer"...So I am assuming I missed the opportunity to inform Mardeneus, since he is in the 7 council shrine now.

Some people reported problems telling Mardaneus about George's murder after he joins the council.

The vampire in the cave returned to his coffin at the back of the locked room after you sacrificed yourself. You need Lockpick level 2 to open the door, or Telekinesis level 2 to pull the lever inside on the wall. Don't forget to try to find the knight Markham again, who gave you the quest to investigate the cave (he starts on the path between Ars Magicana and the cave, but can wander around a lot).
