How exactly do you put the sword in the stone again?
I tried a few things but din't work..

I don't really recall. Simply by clicking on the stone I guess, or by dragging it from your inventory onto the stone.

Stand near the stone, then drag and drop the sword onto it when it glows.

If you polymorph the ghost does that prevent it from killing most of the NPCs in the Dark Forest?

Frogs have no ability to attack so I don't see how he can.

The game may not follow the ghost's actions in that much detail, especially since I don't recall anyone reporting that they actually saw the ghost doing any killing. It may just start a timer if you release the ghost and leave the area. If he is not re-sealed in the stone within 5 minutes (for example) the traders looking for the urn die, after 10 minutes the elves by the talking tree are gone, and after 15 minutes the elves in the village start to die. I never played with this, and do not know the actual time limits.

put it back??? eh?? i finished the game with this sword, it was amazing!

not only did it freeze any enemy i hit it with (thus allowing me about 10 free hits) it seemed to poison them as well!

i never could kill the ghost though, as soon as his life went low, he retreated for about 30 seconds them came back out full strength.

so far, i havent found a better weapon!

Stats are random, so you can potentially find other weapons with the Frost skill on them. Unlike the Freeze spell, Frost on a weapon ignores the target's resistances, which is what makes it so effective. I only tried one Frost weapon my first game, but found it made fights too easy.

Replacing the sword will re-seal the ghost in the stone, and prevent it from killing most of the NPCs in the Dark Forest. If you want to keep the sword, you can use the duplication trick to copy it, or just wait until you have completed all the quests in the Dark Forest before removing it.


To copy an item; <span class='standouttext'>Spoiler : </span><span class='spoiler'>quick save the game, then drag an item out of your inventory, but not somewhere there is a red X. Without dropping first, quick load the game, then release the mouse button when it starts to load. This will produce a copy of the item on the ground, with the original still in your inventory.

There is a much easier method for items which can be stacked;
Drag a stack out of (or into) your inventory (or container) and hold down the control key before dropping. This will bring up the split stack pane; type in a negative number and hit enter (the checkmark will be greyed out). This can also be done in the trade window.</span>

I agree totally with raze on this you should grab the sword duplicate it and then you have two then drag it back to the stone... but this will only work if you put the sword back then pick the sword off the ground!!!!!! If you picked it up already then:
-drag the sword over another weapon(in your inventory) and it shows up as only having 2 items in the stack of 1 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
-sell one sword to a none poluar shopkeeper and drop the sword in a chest or something then kill the shopkeeper or buy it back from him, then use that sword put it into the stone and then grab the sword from the chest and voala u got a very very good sword <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

oh lord....

i was wondering why all the npcs in the game were missing from the forrest? i take it all the elfs arent supposed to be dead? i thought it was an orc raid or something?

hahaha! i still like the sword though.

No, the elves are not suppose to be dead, though you are only missing a couple minor quests from that. One of the quests could have given you a potentially nice bow and the elven merchant is good for bows and mithril armour (no strength requirements, so good for mages), but that's about it. The one essential elf will not be killed by the ghost (he doesn't show up in the village until you have the appropriate quest).
