In terms of weapons consistently in the game, DD is pretty biased towards swords. There are a few powerful axes in the Aleroth catacombs, but only a couple after that. For bows (not a bad backup weapon for a mage), there is only one you are sure to get, as a quest reward in the Dark Forest. I don't recall any staffs consistently in the game, so you are left with randomly generated item drops or merchant inventories for your upgrade options.

If you quick save before running your mouse over an item/chest/merchant or hitting the alt key, you can identify the item or trade with the merchant, then quick load to get different stats or inventory. This can be done repeatedly to get the best stats or specific bonuses on an item (save after finding good candidates) or looking for specific items (such as spell books or charms) from merchants. Don't waste too much time with this, though, it really isn't necessary to get the best possible equipment.

As Raze said, sword biased indeed. That's not a wholly bad thing though, when you realise it that is. If you invest some point in strength and dexterity, a sword like the Nobleman's Sword will prove more than live-saving if you ever run out of mana during a fight!

ya....
well weopons dont really matter...with editor anyway...

i have found an interesting cheat...ok....put Rez at 5 and aura of command at atleast 3...the two quests you do to get itno the warriors guild the cyclops gaurd rez him and the dragon rider for the second part of that set...then rez John (the frist dragonrider you meet)and now you have two dragons and a summoner of summoners(Cyclops gaurd summons other summoners)

then you could run around naked and not get touched...lol <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />

The summoner from under the warrior's guild, and the dragon riders IIRC, survive when you sleep (most creatures that yu cast Aura of Command on will die). Someone in the old forum had a topic called 'my boss collection' where they listed some similar creatures. They also had a screenshot with the warrior's guild summoner following them; after coming in range of an enemy, there were a lot of summons quickly, pretty much filling their mini-map with green crosses.

Only problem with the Cyclops Guardian is the creatures summoned don't follow you. You kind of have to go one step at a time and wait for them to start popping up. Then they only guard that one area. It is rather impressive though. One time I walk ahead of it a ways and got a bunch of skeletons after me, then I lead them back to the guardian. I didn't realize I had gotten killed until 5 minutes after. The battle still went on for another 2. Several of the summons popped up on the opposite side of the wall in the dark zones.

The dragon heart gem can be forged with the dragon breastplate. Talk to the blacksmith Grisha in the Dwarven Halls.

There is a different upgrade available for the silver armour.

Stats on both are random, so in any particular game one can be better than the other (I used the dragon armour). They are potentially a couple of the best breastplates in the game. Some people prefer the upgraded silver armour, since it is invisible on the character.

FYI, below is what I got for this armour;

Breastplate Of The Dragonheart

Durability 12
Charm Quality 3
Armour 440
2 Defense
100 Vitality
60 Magic
15 Resistance to Fire
40 Resistance to Lightning
15 Resistance to Spirit
4 Hearing
Survivors Instinct +1

Breastplate Of The Dragon - before the upgrade

Durability 30
Charm Quality 1
Armour 390
6 Strength
6 Intelligence
60 Vitality
100 Magic
15 Resistance to Lightning
15 Resistance to Poison
2 Hearing
Heaven's gift +1

Silver Breastplate - before the easter egg upgrade

Durability 23
Charm Quality 2
Armour 410
10 Constitution
15 Resistance to Poison
Polymorph +1
life Leech +1

Armour Of Larian - after the easter egg upgrade

Durability 19
Armour 410
4 Agility
10 Defense
40 Vitality
20 Magic
10 Resistance to Fire
40 Resistance to Lightning
20 Resistance to Poison
3 Hearing
Lightning +1

You can get better items ingame, and some of them are easy to find because they are there in every game on the same place, and if you reload to get better stats you will surely get better then those Raze showed you, it is not really needed to do all that trouble <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

There are wounds that bleed inside us There are wounds we never see They are part of our refinements That allow a man to be There are wounds that bleed in silence With aristocratic grace There are tears we keep beside them Never seen upon a face

That depends on how you define best. The warrior class is probably the easiest and most straightforward class to play. There are mage spells and spell combinations which are quite effective, but (as always) this class requires more experimentation (the first time through the game) and better planning with the use of skill points (though mage spell books can be bought). Survivor is probably the most challenging class to play.
