What version of the game do you have? The original Divine Divinity English release does not require a CD key. Subsequent releases may have changed the copy protection (though that hasn't been mentioned in the forum, that I recall), as long as they also updated the game (since there is only one English patch).
If your version does require a CD key, you could try contacting the publisher.
If you are still using the computer that you had the game installed on before, and have not re-installed Windows, the CD key may still be listed in the registry. Click Start | Run, type in regedit and hit Enter, then search for 'Divine Divinity' and poke around. Be careful using the registry editor, though, since editing or deleting the wrong thing can cause serious problems.
You could try installing the
patch, and see if that helps any. If not, you might have to do a clean re-install to get rid of the patch.
Troubleshooting Tips (& manual install procedure)On the off chance you posted in the wrong forum and are referring to Beyond Divinity, despite your previous posts being for Divine Divinity:
Do you have disk 2 in an optical drive?
The UK and North American English versions of Beyond Divinity do not use a CD key that gets typed in during install. The copy protection message referring to a CD key is a poorly worded error, most often caused by having the install CD (disk 1) in the drive rather than the play CD (disk 2). The Australian English version uses a different copy protection, which does require a CD key.
