A couple people ran into problems targeting wasps (and boars). IIRC, once they did some damage they could target them as usual.
Have you tried using an area effect spell that does not need a target? Hell Spikes (very effective at level 4 or 5, though it might not hit a wasp), Elemental Hail, Poison Cloud or Deadly Disks may work. Burning Wall is also an area effect, but you have to run around to draw the wall out (good for crowd control).
If you hold the control key down to target the nearest opponent to your mouse cursor, does that help with wasps? If you are doing that, try clicking on them directly.
Try a different weapon. Someone ran into this problem with a boar, but was able to target it with a club equipped.
agh! invulnerable critters!If you use a statuette to transform into an animal, thus changing your alignment, can you target the wasp then, or when you transform back? You can attack in the spider and beetle forms (though I don't know how either are aligned with wasps), but not as a frog or cat.
There was a version of BD that included DD (and had a sticker on the box indicating so), but it was not universally included or available, and I doubt you could still find one of them around (at least a new copy, anyway). See
