I'm a level 11 Mage and things are going quite well. Sadly I'm leaving alot of food lying around on the ground or in inventory. This is embarrassing! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />

I know it restores health but how do I eat it???

Just click on it once it's in your inventory. I'm not sure all food has an effect, but meat, dropped by boars for instance, works like a health potion.

Excellent.

Now that I think of it I've got one other question (contains a spoiler)....

Last night I killed a Thug Leader that seemed to be setting a bunch of fire bomb traps. After I killed him I kept walking into the traps and dying. I had banked some skill points so I added two levels of "avoid traps".

When I went through the sequence again only my conjured skeletons hit the traps. Does the skill allow you to simply not stumble on the traps and you don't know they were ever there? I'm glad I'm not setting them off anymore, but I don't like not knowing they were there...

I never bothered with the trap detection skill, since there are few places where traps are used or are of much danger (check your resistances if you are getting one hit kills, and maybe buy any Spell Shield books you see; this spell can absorb magical damage, and is particularly helpful with opponents that use poison, such as the zombies around the cursed abbey). The first traps you run into, spider mines, are relatively easy to avoid, since you can hear when they get triggered; after that they don't do enough damage that a couple extra health or restoration potions can not take care of.

From The Locus Inn - Skill System (individual paths, and a skill table for each class);

Evade Trap (Passive)
Helps you avoid devious traps laid by the hand of your enemies. If you learn the evade trap skills, two things will happen. First, when you blunder into a trap, you will have a chance of evading the trap without suffering the potentially devastating effects of the trap. Second, you will be able to disarm some traps which you detected. Traps can be detected by moving your mouse cursor slowly over the area you suspect to be trapped. If you successfully detect a trap, the area which is trapped will glow red. Click on the red area to disarm the trap.
