Is there going to be a new patch made for BD? People at my school have been saying that Larian will be releasing one more patch for BD, but other people are saying that's not going to happen...... who's right?

No, there is not going to be another patch for BD.
Larian did look at the possibility of a patch to update to the 64 bit version of Starforce, so the game could be played under 64 bit versions of Windows, but determined that to be unfeasible.

Game developers should be made to warn people in large letters (like health warnings on cigarettes), that a game contains Starforce. Many shops nowadays WILL NOT take back PC software once it has been opened.

Kudos for X3, releasing a bonus content patch that will also allow the game to be played without the CD in the drive, because of the negative publicity of Starforce.

No more JoWood games will incorporate Starforce in future due to negative reaction.

I'm just after buying a second copy of BD, if I had known of the Starforce implication, this would not have happened, heres hoping it will work <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Before BD was released I think Starforce was suppose to be the latest and greatest copy protection around. Larian ran into some problems after adding the copy protection (just before release) and when trying to create the first patch for the game, so I doubt they would be eager to repeat the experience (though the publisher usually has more of a say in the choice of copy protection).

Good luck. Despite the known and suspected problems with Starforce, there have been relatively few issues reported in the forum. Also, there have been more complaints about it in general than actual problems effecting BD.

That was my impression, too.

By the way, I heard of an Adventure called "ANKh" released here in Germany with an old-fashioned copy protection ... - judging from the description I read it must be kind of a code-wheel like in Monkey Island. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I assume you tried the password reminder function on the login page with any email addresses you may have used at the time (and still have access to)?

The forum server/software was changed awhile ago (March of 2003), so if you were registered in the old forum you would have had to re-register anyway.
