I finished Divine Divinity with my warrior character but now I want to start a more leisurely effort with a mage. I am asking for advice from those of you that have played mages because I don't have a feel for the character type. I mean with a warrior I understand the basic ethic - you bulk up, armor up and bash the heck out of everything in close quarters/melee...with a mage, I'm not so sure.

So what should I spend my limited skill points on? I just made level 7 and put a 2nd point into Holy Bolt but I wonder if that was a good choice. I've also "donated" to Deadly Gift, Repair, and Hell Spikes and still have a couple of points to spend.

I'm also not quite sure how to distribute my level up bonus points. Again, with a warrior, Strength, Agility, and Constitution seemed most important in that order...but with a mage???

Any advice would be appreciated.

Some people say mages are a piece of cake, but I find warriors and archers way easier.

yeah, in each rpg I find close combat much more easier than everything else

I've always found mages to be *by far* the easiest class to play in Divine Divinity.

Two words:

Burning Wall.

Aside from that, the only one you are really, really going to need is meteorstrike. Freeze isn't half bad either.
