I was kind of thinking. Since people have different saves for recovering lost or broken items to fix various things, why not have some stuff setup for commonly sought items such as gold charms, and some gear with good random stats?

Any volunteers? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

You can not use the inventory swap procedure to get equipment, since the stats will change (this is described in the 'lost items' topic). However, there is an item editor you can use to modify existing equipment; DAD's item editor.

Gold charms could be gotten by inventory file swap, but most people would find it easier to use the item editor or iZakaroN's SaveEditor (or from Kiya's site, with description) to boost their stats. Also, there is a cheat to duplicate gold (or potions, etc), so you easily buy silver charms (and gold ones, near the end of the game).

To duplicate items that can be stacked, drag a stack out of (or into) your inventory (or container) and hold down the control key before dropping. This will bring up the split stack pane; type in a negative number and hit enter (the checkmark will be greyed out). This can also be done in the trade window.

If you quick save before running your mouse over an item/chest/merchant or hitting the alt key, you can identify the item or trade with the merchant, then quick load to get different stats or inventory. This can be done repeatedly to get the best stats or specific bonuses on an item (save after finding good candidates) or looking for specific items (such as spell books or charms) from merchants. Don't waste too much time with this, though, it really isn't necessary to get the best possible equipment.

Well, I know a trick or two about how I like to dupe items to be sold, etc. Usually works out pretty well in-game with merchants, but I have never been able to duplicate the results of others when it comes to an item just dropped or something. It seems that once it hits the ground, etc, it has already been decided, no matter how many times I wanna reload or whatnot.

If you run your mouse cursor over a dropped piece of equipment, or hit the alt key nearby, its properties will be set. The same goes for merchant inventories and chest contents, etc.

I understand that, but I still see the same results stuck repeating at times when I am certain that neither the ALT key was hit, nor was the item identified before hand by any means. I could literally kill something, an item drops, CTRL +S and the same stats appear over and over
