Me too I'm suffering from the random static noise that is quite disturbing.
I read a post from Dex relating it to Intel core 2 duo,which seems relevant because I have that in my pc.He advises to choose to run the game with 1 cpu only.The problem is that he instructs to use the ingame task manager to do this and I can't find how I should proceed to do that.I went to options but did not find it there.So how do I access this task manager?

You don't need to be able to access the Task Manager from within in the game; the game just has to be running while you are using the Task Manager to set it to use only one CPU. Start the game, alt-tab out (or hit ctrl-esc or the windows key to bring up the start menu, which will minimize the game), then start the Windows Task Manager (hit ctrl-alt-del, or right click on the taskbar and select Task Manager).

Monitoring and Optimizing Apps on Dual-Core and Multiprocessor Systems - briefly describes how to 'Set Affinity' of an application to a specific CPU through the Task Manager or using a couple other utilities.

So long to "Set Affinity"... - mentions another program to set CPU preference, as well as driver updates and an MS hotfix

Since I am currently only using headphones, it is just an annoyance more than anything, so I don't want to fiddle with any computer settings.

I am curious if this problem exists in Beyond Divinity as well?

These clear instructions helped me to make DD run on only 1 cpu.
However the static still happened.However the frequency did seemed reduced.

shadowshiv;
A couple people have reported static with BD, but it seems rarer than with DD.

YellowShark;
Sorry it was only a partial fix. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />

Thanks Raze. It is good to know that the static is a rarer occurrence in Beyond Divinity.

Speaking of sound, the volume of the sound effects went louder than normal(or maybe the sound is usually lower than normal?). Either way, after about a half-hour of this, DD crashed to desktop. It says a lot about a game where I will still play it even after a fair number of crashes.
