Hi everyone, I normally post on the Dutch topics but I didn't get any reaction there, so I'm trying here <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> (sorry if my English isn't great)

In Act IV the death knight is encumbered, and he isn't carrying anything except for charms, gold and some food. I don't get it why he's encumbered.
Maybe something he picked up or so?
Any suggestions?

Thx

So, assuming you have the latest patch installed, the DK will not walk or run at all?

If you check the DK's stats in the inventory window, what is listed for the current and maximum weights?

Did you scroll down to check all the inventory categories, and make sure he wasn't carrying some heavy armour or a chest, etc? If he has a lot of food, that weight can add up, as well.

If you drop some food or equipment, is your current weight updated?

There is nothing in BD like DD's Halberd of the Rock (which drains stamina), but I suppose you could have picked up some bugged object with a large weight. Did you try dropping everything?

Could you have accidentally switched to sneak mode (right click on the ground somewhere with Sneak selected as your secondary skill), or something? A couple people have mistaken the slow movement in Sneak's crouch for being encumbered, after inadvertently using that skill.

I didn't install it, but I did now <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> but he still walked, but didn't run, and I like him to run <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

4434/5600 (never got that part actually :s )

I did, he wasn't carrying anything super heavy

If you drop some food or equipment, is your current weight updated?
some food didn't help

I tried it (after you suggested it) and while I was dropping things he was suddenly not encumbered anymore, but it's not like I dropped anything special, just all items like food, keys, gems, gold... all charms, when I started on the potions, I dropped a strength potion and he wasn't encumbered anymore

Could you have accidentally switched to sneak mode (right click on the ground somewhere with Sneak selected as your secondary skill), or something? A couple people have mistaken the slow movement in Sneak's crouch for being encumbered, after inadvertently using that skill.
I didn't switched to sneak mode, there was really a sign in the upper left corner of my screen with "death knight is encumbered"

Thanks for responding!! But I don't think it's possible that he's carrying so little and he's already encumbered.
I put my response within your answer, but I wasn't able to put a colour on it :s

I think that he would be encumbered due to the weight being 4434 out of his maximum of 5600. I know that my characters get encumbered when they get close to their max weight, which looks to be the case here. I am not sure why they would have a character get encumbered before hitting the max weight, but perhaps it is so people have a warning before they give the character more weight than their maximum(and not being able to move at all)?

[color:"orange"]4434/5600 (never got that part actually :s )[/color]

The weight of everything the DK is carrying is 4434 units, while his maximum capacity is 5600, so he is at 79% of the weight limit. IIRC the point where characters becomes encumbered is 75% of the maximum.

The maximum weight capacity is the most weight you can carry and still be able to walk around (in the game this is directly proportional to the character's strength). The encumbrance limit is the most weight you can carry and still be able to run around. Realistically, the latter limit is going to be lower than the former, and the game simplifies it to 75%.

With the patch installed, characters can hold items past their maximum weight capacity, but then can not move at all (this make the summoning dolls even better as mules to carry excess stuff).

Gold and charms shouldn't have made a difference, since they don't have weight. Food and potions are stackable, so after awhile their weight can start to add up. That last potion may just have been enough to get you down under 75% (IIRC) of your maximum capacity.

If your browser doesn't insert the colour tags when you click on one of the colours in the 'Font color' section under the text box, you can manually type in the tags and type the text between them;

[ color:orange]text[ /color] -- spaces added after the '['s so it stays as plain text

or put quote tags around individual sentences/paragraphs.

So my Death Knight is encumbered because he is carrying too much.
But there's another thing I don't get, he isn't carrying anything like armor, he has as much food in his inventory as my other character. I dropped some potions down at the battlefields (so I can pick them up later) and he's alright now, but it's just strange.
Here's what I mean.

This is my Death Knight's levels:
Vitality 525(max)
MagicPoints 745(max)
stamina 950(max)
weight 5600(max)

strength 80
agility 38
constitution 30
intelligence 30
survival 4
speed 5

These are my other character's levels:
Vitality 755(max)
magicpoints 1150(max)
stamina 2495(max)
weight 4820(max)

strength 67
agility 60
constitution 34
intelligence 43
survival 17
speed 11

Both are level 31

Which I don't get is, my DK has strenght 80 and my other char has strength 67, and she can carry way more than him!
That's strange, isn't it?

Either the food the DK is carrying is heavier than the hero's food despite looking to be about the same amount, or the DK has extra weight equipped or hidden in his inventory somewhere.

Is your DK using a two handed weapon? He can still pick up a shield and have it get put in the inventory slot, but greyed out (disabled) so it is harder to see. That may be adding extra weight.

[color:"yellow"]He's indeed carrying much more food than the hero, that probably caused the problem, I dropped some food down in the battlefields too.[/color]

[color:"yellow"]Yes, he is using a two handed sword, but I got ridd of the shield some time ago, because it was too heavy and he couldn't use it anyway[/color]

Thanks for responding, I hope he will run again now <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I've got another question about <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> the teleporter stones are missing in Act IV. Is there any chance to get them back?

No, once the teleporter stones are removed (during the transition to act 4) you do not get them back. The imp historian said he would be back for them later, though there is no cutscene or explanation in-game to say that this is what happened.

That's too bad, I don't like the battlefields all that much without the teleporter stones.
Especially with my DK being all that difficult to carry anything <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Stick all your excess loot in a doll, and summon it before trading. Perhaps use a different doll for spare potions and equipment you may want to use later. I don't think I slept at all after the first act (potions or spells were easier), and just kept a bit of food on the characters, in case of emergency, and left some in a barrel in the BF.

The BF quests and dungeons are optional; I skipped them entirely, partly because when the game was first released a few people were complaining that it was too difficult without leveling in the BF.

Hi,
sorry for the late reaction, my internet didn't work for like 2 weeks!
Meanwhile I finished the game, thanks to your help <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Is there any chance there will be a Divine Divinity II ?

There will be a DD2. That's what forum members have been calling it, anyway, for lack of a better term; Larian is only publicly calling it 'our next RPG' or 'next gen game'. Check out that forum section for what little info has been released so far. There are also several related posts in the Announcements forum.

I will do that <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for all your help!
