Hi there,
I have found the orbs in the tombs beneath Alroth, and placed them in the pentagrams - but nothing happens - no portal????

Also, how do I kill the giant spider that spits at you in the farm lands? what weapon, what skills? And not to mention the annoying bees! As it is I keep getting myself killed over and over.

So please, I hope one of you could give me a bit of advise on this one.

When you dropped the orbs, did you get a sound effect and have them raise up slightly? If not, the orbs may have been a little off the pentagrams. Try picking the orbs up again (once placed in the pentagrams I don't think you can move them).

Check your resistances, and make sure they are not negative. If you are having problems with bees, you probably ran into the resistance bug (unequipping an item with a Magic Barrier skill bonus without otherwise knowing that skill). In that case, installing the patch will automatically fix your resistances.
Some re-release versions of the game may already be updated to the latest 1.0034A version, as shown in the bottom right corner of the main menu, so would not need to be patched. The DVD version is already updated, and the patch (designed for the CD version) should not be installed.

I do not remember a sound effect when I placed the orbs. But they are floating in the air above the pentagrams, and I cannot remove them ... I guess that there isn´t any other entrences to the tombs?

Besides Hex Editing thats the only way in.

There are a couple ways you can bypass the locked door that the portal is suppose to teleport you past.

FIX for the Missing Catacombs Portal
or
Teleporting Anywhere, via hex editor

Thank you guys for the suggestions. As it is I only have one teleporter stone, and from what I read of your fix, Raze, I kinda need two - to be able to get out of the place again. (one at my base and one at this room that I cannot enter) I have tried to get no. 2 teleporter stone - but if I put it into my inventory I cannot teleport back ... and just clicking on it teleports me back <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> Or is there a teleporter stone in that room that I can not get into? or close by that I should use, to make the fix work?

And the 2 teleporter stone I am refrering to is the one you get to when you click on the first one (where you are surrounded by skeleton warriors) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Actually, even if you just use the first teleporter stone to get to the second, there is a teleporter pad in the room (in the hallway to the south west), which will bring you to the start of the catacombs.

Alternately, you can drop and use the teleporter stone you have with you, to teleport to the second stone, which you can then pick up (stand close, then drag and drop it into your inventory window or onto the menu interface along the bottom of the screen). Next you can use (without dropping) the second teleporter stone to get back to the first (click the 'use' skill icon, or click on it in your inventory). Next, pick up the first teleporter stone, head to your current home base, drop one teleporter stone, and keep the other with you.

When you are exploring and want to get back to base quickly (to sleep or drop off loot when encumbered), you can drop and use the teleporter with you, do whatever, use the teleporter at your base to get back, pick up that teleporter stone, and keep going.

You can use the first teleporter to get to the 2nd ( if its still in its original place ) and then pick the lock on the door to get to the third level, afaik. I can't remember what level lockpick you need, though.

Are you sure that door can be lockpicked? That would let people bypass the first couple levels of the catacombs. I though it could only be opened with a lever on the wall west of the door (so you had to get there from the other side to open the door).

I think that it can, but it has to be rather high level of lockpicking. 4 or 5.

I really can't remember, though. You could be right. I thought I recalled hearing that it could be, though.

What about Telekinesis? Works for Vampire Door.

The lever is too far away to use Telekinesis.

I made it work! Thank you guys! I am really glad that this forum is here, and that you guys answers all the questions. I have been using a lot of time to check out a lot of the posts in the forum, and they are very helpful. This is the first time I am playing a game like this, so it takes a bit of time to get into the way of thinking in it.
