The last few times I've tried to preview my posts on this forum, my web-browser has given me an error. Specifically, HTTP 500 Server Error.
I've found that if I uncheck the Preview my Post box, I can actually post.
I'm using Internet Explorer 7 on a Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2 machine. If need be, I could add in my DXdiag as well.

I got a similar (maybe the same) error a day or two ago trying to quote a post, but it worked fine the next attempt (about a minute later). Did you try just resubmitting the post, without unchecking the preview box?

Hi all,
Sorry for this, but when we have some more time on our hands (hopefully soon), we'll look for a forum-upgrade. And yes, the posts, PM's, topics,... will be kept

Just now, I tried 3 times to submit a post on the English Help&Tricks section with the 'Preview Post' box still checked, and every time it gave me the same error. Also, clicking the 'Quote this post' button to try to quote you, Raze, gave the same error each try. Assuming this post posts properly, the above quote had to be manually entered.

I post this to see if I get an error or not. *Edit* No error.

Hmmm... nothing wrong on my side, either. I might be jumping to conclusions but could this be related to the recent forum issues? A slightly corrupted user profile/info could be the cause, though you might want to try this again.

I personally like SMF but you folks will likely stick to Ubb, right?

We apologize for the problems. The forum upgrade will happen beginning of January. Our last days before the Xmas holidays are pretty hectic. And yes, we most likely go for the UBB threads again. That's the only possibility to keep ALL data.

Yep, you're right. It's always hectic before Xmas.
Well, multiple backups are always the way to go before upgrading, huh?
Anyways, I hope that the forums stay stable long enough so the upgrades don't break them. ^^;; Chaos knows how they love to play havoc with the poor admins: as if staring at a chunk of code wasn't bad enough, you get to meet the Lord of Chaos!

Hmmm. Despite the Forum Upgrade not being scheduled until January, I've managed to Preview properly today...
In my opinion, the worst kind of solved computer problem is the kind that just mysteriously disappeared, as you never know when it might just come back on its own!
