I've PMed Lynn to tell her about this thread, Alrik. Whatever it is, I'm sure she'll get to the bottom of it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I am pretty sure the DD / BD engines are not suitable for your purpose. Neither game supports multi-player modes, so this would be something you would have to add yourself. Possibly more of an issue, this also means the graphics system, combat mechanics, etc have not been optimized for fault tolerance, low bandwidth or fast response time over the internet.
Larian's next game (in development) will have a multi-player component, though there has been no information released about how it will be implemented (I wouldn't expect full MMO support).

If you have not done so already, you may want to take a look at Panda3d, Monumental, XNA, etc. I found an old news article (here) saying Ryzom was making its engine (NeL) available, but at least currently that link doesn't seem to be working (their homepage mentions an 'MMO scenario editor' but I don't know if that would be suitable for building an entire game with).

Welcome to the forum. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif" alt="" />

Alrik;
While bots tend to have bad spelling / grammar, as with the original post, I don't see a point to asking for a PM and not advertising anything (except possibly to test if the bot software used works).

Hello,

Thanks for the nice words about our games, it's always heartwarming to read this.
Raze already replied to your question concerning the engines.

Could you do us a favor? Don't write in capitals, it's like shouting <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

Thanks,
Lynn

You will need to find an MMO game engine that you can use/license or find an MMO game that you like that can be modded. The second option would probably be faster and require less programming, but presumably without much low level access there may be restrictions on how much you could add or change from the original design.

A modding or game programming forum/group may have more specific advice (I don't program or play MMO games).

You need to find someplace devoted to developing or modding MMO games. Everything I know about MMO engines I posted links to above (and below). There are a few forum members here that do play MMO games, but if they have seen this topic they apparently do not have any experience on the programming side.
Larian's RPG Chat forum may be useful for game design or feature discussion, but I don't think anyone currently following these forums can help with specific engine or programming advice.

I know I can't help. My knowledge of programming is so limited as to be almost non-existent.

Try looking at Gamasutra and at IGDA forums.
