I checked the user list, and to my shock found out that there are about 1,750 active users who've never entered a post!

A couple people have registered in order to send me a PM (for help with hex editing or one of the bug fix procedures), rather than posting a message.

Some people may have registered intending to post a question, but then figured it out themselves, or tried one last search before posting and got what they needed.

Some web forums require you to register in order to use the search function (which is stupid, so I never do). People used to that may just automatically register before even trying to search.

It's not actually that unusual for forums, believe it or not. I have a few who registered for mine who never posted, and I suspect the reasons vary a lot between intending to post but never quite getting to it and registering just to see if there is stuff which only shows up when you register - which is true of some forums (And not just the search functions mentioned by Raze, either ).

But isn't there a way to close an account? I mean, if people have no further use for an account, shouldn't they just close it?

Tja mein Bester, es gibt Foren in denen User, die seit 6 Monaten nix mehr gepostet haben, automatisch gelöscht werden. Finde ich sinnvoll - solange vorher ein Reminder per email an die User rausgeht, dass die Löschung droht.

Doesn't always occur to them, or they see no real reason to do so. Which is fair enough, I guess. It's not like an unused profile takes up massive space.

Personally, I hate people deleting their accounts as it confuses my count - but that's just me!

But the numbers are already screwed up anyway. For instance (at the time of this post) there are 8,622 users and the newest member (Stuberto) is number 14,670! Also, what did Ddraigfire and Ube say to each other? Was it related to the subject?

The description of this Forum says: "Talk any language you want" ...

I just said, that in other forums for example users being deleted automatically, if they won't write a post for more than 6 month. This would be okay for me, if the users receive a warning email, when the deleting of their account is imminent.

Swedish. I'd say it's the straightest/purest form of scandinavian, but I suspect I'm a bit biased there. It does however have a lot in common with German (at least wordwise). A pity I never got to learn German properly...

The only thing i know in any sort of scandanavian is "God Jul", but I think I should say that in about 9 months. (Of course, I suspect I may have accidentally shouted a few ancient scandanavian curses when I'd trip or something)

You think Indonesian food is hot? Try some real Thai food, I recommend Tom Yam. But honestly, the majority of Indonesian dishes aren't too hot or spicy, just to you Bules (foreigners)!
