well i have been playing this game for a while, although i never beat it due to my habit of "getting bored and restarting a brand new game"

here are some of my cheap tricks:

1, save/load, i think most players know this one. but the correct/boring way to save/load for a good item is explained in part 3.

2, Walker the Apothecary, how to kill him so you can get the key(in his back room) to Nericon's Garden? easy, you need to have a frog statue/shadow potion. lure 2~3 snakes(need to go around so the guards don't intervene) to his shop, use frog statue/shadow potion to drop combat, then WALK TO THE DOOR and stand directly inside the door, this way, Walker can't run out because you block the door, and he will get killed within a few minutes.

same technique can be used to fight multiple opponents in dungeons, when you have like 16 mobs on you, use the doors between adjacent areas to your advantage so that they have to stand in a line and fight you one at a time:)

3, how to kill lord seth really early in game(after you get the quest that asks you to talk to general alix of course)

u need a spider statue, the orcs have a chance of dropping it, or you can buy it from Ars Magicana in river town. use it, lord seth will become red to you, lure him down to the Ambush quest area, let him fight the drummer, since the drummer goes back to full HP every time you save/load, it is possible to keep saving/loading to wear Lord Seth down. when Lord Seth is low enough, let him kill drummer or you can help him kill drummer if you want exp, and then use spider statue again to lure the wounded Lord Seth back to the village, attack him and kill him and then quick save without picking up/mouse over the sword. then the long/boring loading would be something like this, Ctrl+L(or whatever your hotkey for quick load is), pick up his sword and let Joram(or any other merchant that can identify) identify it, if it's not good, then Ctrl+L, make sure you save good candidates(for example, 5 mana drain+60 magic).

4, to be continued, i will keep this post updated with new findings.

Nice work! I honestly never thought of trying to kill Lord Seth before. That's good that you can get the sword, otherwise why mention it? Reminds me of Chekhov's gun. I suppose if you just wanted the sword and not the XP, you could just keep training monsters to Seth until they take him out. Hmm...

I actually used this technique myself in one game to kill one of the plague victims, I didn't block him in though. Just lured a wolf to him then watched it chase him around and eventually take him out. Better than my first way of doing it (throwing poison vials at the person)...that was expensive since I threw at least one super poison. I lured about 8-10 various orcs to the Dwarven Village to see what would happen, to my surprise the dwarves were tough little buggers, one Dwarven female took out three herself just punching them to death. Quite entertaining to see. Then I resurrected them all, left the scene, then came back to watch it all over again. I want to train a whole bunch of trolls, snakes, and wolves into the Market to see what happens smile (saving first of course)

Something I noticed which might just be coincidence, but it seems like in the sort of scripted battle scenes between soldiers and orcs, the orcs make better drops if you let the soldiers kill them. Be careful though, if a soldier dies and drops something, surrounding soldiers may consider it stealing if you pick it up.

This doesn't seem to get mentioned very often...spoiler?
A very nice short sword can be "rolled up" in Stormfist, in Janus's room (in a chest). Just walk up to the chest and take it right in front of him, he doesn't seem to mind a bit.

I used a technique similar to yours when trying to get good stats on George's leather armor at a low level. If you're trying to be "good" and don't want to steal it outright, you can make sure George is watching you closely, try to take it, he will then offer to sell it to you, already identified. Usually costs a little more than 500 gold. Kinda nice to buy a five charm slot item with decent stats for around 500 gold smile

You do not need to kill Walker to get the key. See the screenshot instructions here and here. Also, in the latest game version, Nericon's garden gate can be lockpicked (level 5).

With loot dropped in scripted battles between the army and orcs, you can freely pick everything up after you agree to do a couple quests for the army. You can then also loot the armoury (at least until you complete the quests and are no longer considered to be working for the army).

In Stormfist Castle, some of the people there don't pay any attention to you stealing things. Of course, a few do mind, but I'm not sure which characters mind and which ones don't. All I know for sure is that Janus and Leia don't mind, and I think Janus' Mom get upset.

If you just go steal the amulet (I think it's an amulet) from Janus' mom, it's all good, when she becomes upset is when you keep starting up conversations with her. At least in my experience. No worries though, it's not like you have to interact with her again. One side note, the last time I went through Stormfist with Finn's lockpics, I stuck them in Rob's book first, and they never disappeared by the time I got to Iona's dungeon. Not sure if that made a difference or not. I'm beginning to think they really DID disappear because I dragged two chests down to that cellar and tried to open them.

4, if you want to avoid exp. then sometimes you can use the spider statue to do so. for example, if you go near the engineer in cursed abbey while being a spider, you can give him 1000g to make him leave without receiving the exp/reputation. and then you are free to save/load for good versions of the drops in the chest and the amulet.

Nice tip, I'll have to see if I can use that somewhere.
