Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) General Quest sequentialism (spoilers?)

Hey all, registered to ask a quick question regarding events in what I assume is fairly early in the game (first playthrough).

I brought the wheel to the merchants' cart, found the flames and skulls and such. The journal entry said "Explore the area cos you don't think it's orcs what did this!" (paraphrasing, of course). So, naturally, I explored. And found their bodies, and a cave with stuff in it. And 2 NPCs that were (apparently) muchmuchmuchmuch higher-leveled than I am jumped me and I barely escaped, did the duck in/duck out hit-and-run combat to take the guy down, then just smacked the chick a couplea times with Slasher.

ANYWAY.

Upon returning to the merchant who gave me the wheel, I found that I was turning in the "Oh crap, the cart-guys are dead" quest.

Er...

Am I S.O.L., or is the game smart enough to allow for this sort of thing?

Did you finish off both thugs? They each drop keys for a couple locked chests. There is also a letter on the table there you need to take and then speak to Marcus about.

If you didn't take out the thugs, there shouldn't be a problem waiting until you have leveled up a bit, have better equipment / spells, or more restoration potions.

nother question. I've just gotten the elven council member to go back to the chamber (i.e. brought back the 3 artifacts, solved the problems, etc). The group of elves who have amusing cut-scenes all react to me as "That human who brought back our artifacts" and are generally very friendly. The elf that my character has, for whatever reason, fallen head-over-heels for *and* the village leader are both still reacting as though I haven't done anything.

Wha'd I do wrong?

The elf that your character has fallen for is playing hard to get. You need to complete the dwarven council member quest in addition to the elven one, to resolve the conflict between the elves and dwarves, before you get a chance to 'prove' your devotion.
As the father of the elf your character falls for, I don't think the village leader ever warms up to you (that I recall anyway).

Ahhh, that makes sense now that I think about it.

i am inthe area with the guilds past the market and i havta steal a dudes deed i cant get te kevers right and i accadentally pulled outta 10,000 loan and didnt save b4 wat do i do?

For the levers, you need to get all of the doors to the 4 small rooms open, then pull the central lever to close those doors and open the treasure room.

Specifically, exit the house via the teleporter pad to reset the levers, then enter and pull the north west lever, then the south east lever, and finally the central lever. The north east and south west levers remain in the up position.

Down (1) ..... Up
... Down (3) ...
Up ..... Down (2)


With the loan, simply pay it back. At least later in the game it is easy to get money. If you do not want to pay any interest for an accidental speech option selection, there is a way to cheat to get the required gold.
