Hello, all.

I've beaten this game before, but I still have some questions. There are spoilers here, so be warned.

The opening cutscene
I'm not exactly sure what the imprisoned entity in the opening movie that the Black Ring tried to kill was. My impression was that it was an angel, but why was it in that tomb? Was it a prisoner there? How did the Black Ring know it was there, and why did the Black Ring try and kill it - was that part of the prophecy?

What is the text of Ruben Ferol's prophecy?
Throughout the game, we hear about the prophecy of the Divine One, but for the life of me, I cannot find a copy of this prophecy. What did it say? How does it fit the description of both Janus and the Marked One?

EDIT: I found a copy! It's in the re-written version of the Prophecy story that came with the game.

Are the Aleroth Catacombs Dwarven in origin?
Lanilor mentions that the Catacombs - "some of it is an ancient dwarf-working, but most of it is natural." Personally, I think that he just didn't know big they were. Was it an ancient Dwarf city or Dwarf tomb?

What was so special about the axe Slasher that Smiruk wanted?
Why did he kill his fellow Orc with it, and is there a good reason why he wasn't hostile like pretty much all the other Orcs?

Are there any more kingdoms outside of the area in Divine Divinity?
It seems like such a small population for such a well-developed area. Are there more settlements of sentients outside of the game area? The tales of Omar the pirate suggest an ocean somewhere.

Is Rivellon a planet, a continent or a country?
This is a bit unclear to me.

Given that Lizards are not very friendly toward people, why is there such a large population living in the sewers?
Are they just xenophobic, or were they forced underground by predjudice and racism, or both?

What are the names of the other months?
From Thelyron Hashnitor's notes in the Aleroth catacombs, it seems that Divine Divinity takes place in about the year 1217 (ten years after he wrote them). From his notes, I learned the months Sembten and Octavianus, but what are the names of the other months?

[END CUTSCENE SPOILERS]
What is the origin of the baby at the end?
Is the baby a normal human baby stolen by the Black Ring to get posessed by the Lord of Chaos, or is the baby a manifestation of the Lord of Chaos, and didn't exist in the world until the ritual was completed? If the latter, it seems a bit odd that after all that, they'd have to wait another 5-20 years before the baby could assume the role of Lord of Chaos.

I think the angel was captured and brought to the tomb to kill. Presumably a ritual, or a special weapon/spell, a cursed location and/or the combined effort of several Black Ring mages would be required to kill an angel. They wanted to kill her because she was trying to stop the preparations they were making leading up to the a ritual to summon the Lord of Chaos.

Other than what Zandalor describes, I don't recall any details about the prophecy.

I think Smiruk was there to provide a quest and break up the hack and slash aspect of the catacombs. The Larians may also have wanted to have a few more friendly orcs in the game, since they were basically tricked into helping the Black Ring. Also, watching him test axe candidates was amusing.
evil

I believe Rivellon is a planet. What we see in DD is only a small portion of it. D2:ED will show more of Rivellon, and some familiar places changed with time.

Maybe Verdistis was build on the lizards' swamp? Maybe they just like damp places, and the sewers give them easy access to various resources. Maybe they were planning to attack the city, but the Black Ring's plans never got that far.
Maybe the Larians just needed an opponent in the sewers, and didn't want to go with giant rats or alligators.

The baby at the end was a human child, required as a vessel to summon part of the Lord of Chaos.

The D2:ED fansite kit includes a novella by Rhianna Pratchett covering the time from the end of DD up to a little while before the start of BD (which is set about 20 years later). I posted a summary of the story here before the pdf was available. It also contains the prequel story to Divine Divinity (don't recall if it mentions the prophecy directly, but it deals with the previous attack by the Lord of Chaos, and his not-quite-complete defeat).

*sigh*
I would have never thought that the language of pure image is so hard to understand. We have to think about that in the future...

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD!

Ascension "Blessing" cutscene
After you got sacrificed by the council of seven your spirit awakes in a divine realms on an altar. Around you the ideas of the seven gods are manifesting. You can roughly separate impish, human, elven or orcish gods...
Everyone of them grabs into their chest and puts a small part of the heart into your weightless shape. After you received all blessing the div in you is fully developed and so her wings grow and she flies up to the mortal plane where she descends as the reborn hero into the wastelands.

Extro scene
You see the demon of lies dying. In fact you see the mutiliated body of janus ripped into pieces and the leftover, the sword of lies, remains. It comes closer and tries to seduce the hero. The hero is tempted to take it but refuses and sends it back to hell away from the mortal plane.
Then the hero hears the cries of the baby. Knowing that it is the lord of chaos inside the child he/she draws the dagger to kill it. In the hero's moral struggle to kill a neborn innocent child the scene fades out.
Much later you see the hero walk out victorious into the swamp area. He carries something. Loot? The child? You don't know for sure...
Somewhere on a distant hill Arhu and Zandalor watch you coming when suddenly the statue you lifted up in the sky while entering the katacombs of aleroth comes down finally...(side joke, nothing more)

Thanks for your attempts and answering some of my questions. I found a copy of the prophecy by accident, at the Locus Inn webside. It's in the version of the Prophecy story re-Written and edited by Darren Evans and Gillian Pearce.

I'll just assume that the ruins under Aleroth are Dwarven, since that's what Lanilor said.

I figured that Smiruk was just something to break up the combat for a bit as well.

I'll assume that there are other kingdoms beyond the Dukedom of Ferol's borders.

I thought the baby was a human. That was my initial assumption. (Idle speculation) I wonder where the Black Ring got it from...

Maybe they just stole the first baby they saw. There probably won't be cannonical explanation about it.
