can you become a member of the assassins guild?

No. The archer's guild is also unavailable; you can only join the merchant, thieves and/or warrior's guilds.

then i know that i know about everyone of them, shame that you cant be a member of the archers guild, because when you have trained a skilled archer, then you shoot everything down on 1 arrow each. i am now playing a mage, are you sure there isnt a mage guild?

There is no mage guild.

There aint no guilds except those Raze already mentioned.

i didnt know there were any guilds in divinity
if so where and how do i get into them??

The merchant and thieves guilds are in Verdistis (a building north of the park for the first, and in the cellar of the ducal inn for the second), the warrior's guild is in the Dark Forest (east central area, up on a mountain). Each guild will have a quest or two that you need to do in order to join (there are a couple different ways to join the merchants' guild).
