I downloaded and installed the new patch. I then loaded a game created before I installed the last patch and started playing. The problem with the map resetting is fixed but now when I go into some dungeons (Dr. Elrath's basement and the crypt in the cemetary after Iona's dungeon) there is a buzzing sound instead of music. Once I leave the dungeon the buzz is gone and the music is OK. Has anyone else experienced this??

Try running dxdiag and turning the sound hardware acceleration down a notch.

Thanks for the suggestion I'll try it. BTW, I installed the rise of nations demo a few days ago and that installed DX9 so I wonder it the problem could be related to that.

Did it install DirectX 9.0 or 9.0a? If the former, you might want to try updating it. One person with a similar sound problem fixed it by updating from version 8, though several people have had problems with version 9.
