Why would PC be a port anyway? :S Can't believe some of you thought the PC version would be a port I've never known a PC game to be a port. Well thats just my view on this situation:D

Well thats just my view on this situation:D You may be missing the meaning...maybe not. Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed were both "ported" from console to PC, e.g. originally console games converted to PC games. It is my understanding that D2 is being simultaneously developed for PC and console, but it is a PC game in origin. MacBeth, Lynn...can you chime in and confirm or not?

Yes but they were released at different times. Both versions of Divinity 2 are going to be released around the same time of each other.

Bioshock Look how that turned out. Some People claim that its a sloppy port. Im sure Larian being in the industry would have learn't its better to port to 360 not to PC. Im pretty sure they being made parallel to each other though.

Was the only reason I called your attention to known ported games. I assume, as you do, that different versions of D2 will be released at the same time. But they are being developed together, even though my guess is the heart of the game is derived from the PC version. DA:O is doing the same thing...now. Originally there wasn't going to be a console version, then there was, but released later, now the PC has been delayed to coincide with console luanch. Still a PC game originally though.

I can guarantee you that neither versions are ports of the other. They both have a distinct look and feel with completely different user interfaces, camera, controls, etc.

PC only - I avoid consoles like the plague since: - you can only run what the console makers allow you to run (unless you have your console modified);
- you have less control over what the console is doing, especially when online, compared to a PC (i.e. on a PC you can use firewalls and packet sniffers to monitor or block network traffic, which can be critical in preserving online privacy);
- console software is more expensive, even if the hardware is cheaper, and software is usually the bigger investment over time;
- input (controllers) and output (graphics) options are more limited on a console - this also tends to affect cross-platform games where the PC version ends up "dumbed down" to accommodate console limitations;
- XBox360 specific - the cooling fan whine is annoying as heck;
- PS3 specific - I wouldn't trust Sony any further than I could through them given their past consumer-exploitative habits (Sony BMG rootkit anyone?).
My second-biggest concern about Ego Draconis is what compromises Larian are going to make on the PC side (simplified graphics and controls, BIG TEXT ONSCREEN, etc) to keep in step with console limitations - it is possible to make totally separate versions but far more expensive in development time.

This poll only proves that if a game can run on PC or XBOX, got more functionality with PC. Game consoles were always juiced up Video cards compared to computers.
Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?

I may be a PC-player first, but even I wouldn't say my PS3 is a "juiced up video card". That thing is like having another computer, only attached to my tv.

Hi all As you know, will be released on the PC and on the Xbox360. Which platform do you prefer and why? I am curious Thanks, Lynn PC Version. I want KB/mouse controls. If those ain't so hot b/c the PC version turns out "consolized," I can just plug in the X360 For Windows Controller -- as long as the PC version supports this, of course. I want patches -- and to be able to get them at my own will through...well, where-ever on the Net has it posted up. Also, I look forward to future expansions and DLC, as well -- if you guys have plans for that. I hope for a SDK. If there's a SDK, we can expect modders will have a good time -- especially if they like the SDK and get good with it -- and the lifespan of my game will go further. I'd rather my game be read directly off the hard-drive than a disc. I'd rather set the game options and graphic settings up to settings I feel suits my system and needs. I don't want to be limited by ONE fixed set of hardware; I want the kind of customization that works for me. If I have to turn some graphical bell & whistles OFF to make the game run better, fine. If my PC runs the game well at whatever settings, then I can test it at higher settings -- maybe pump shadows up, turn AA and AF up, etc etc. I want to run the game on a resolution I feel is suitable to my PC -- I aim for 1024x768 or above. I'm sure there's other reasons I'd rather have the PC version, but this should do...

Even thought i own a xbox, i'll buy the PC version because it usually gets extra stuff and these types of games are easier to play with a keyboard then a controller.

Good evening, I voted for both, as I have both, and my platform of choice for multiplatform games depends on which one offers the highest quality version of the game. In the event of a draw, it will then depend on the multiplayer aspect, notably the community (I have lots of friends who use PCs, but for playing with people I don't know, I find that the xbox works better.). Should there be no multiplayer component to the game, price and/or my mood at the moment of the purchase will determine which version I will buy. The E3 preview of Divinity 2 from Kotaku makes me believe the PC version will be superior, so that should be the version I will get. But things can change. In my experience as a QA tester, I have seen miracles happen to games when they get very close to their planned release date. With that all said, I am very excited about this game and can't wait to get my hands on it Cheers, Rythok P.S. Kotaku Divinity 2 preview

PC!! It's the best ever, so many more options and future opportunities for improvements. Plus I don't have an Xbox 360. But I must also echo one of the earlier comments I read, PC is much better to play on, feels much more natural and comfortable.

PC games tend to look better anyway. I like the 360 better I find its easier to control the game instead of maping buttons to your keyboard which can be annoying If you forget the keys. Also @Kotaku article the 360 version isn't even polished yet nor is it finished.

PC! The platform combines the best of both worlds (if your PC is technically up-to-date). You can work, play and be online etc.
PC has more power and resources, better controls ( I hate gamepads!), better monitors, higher resolutions and better textures (if developer cares to make them).
I also do not occupy the living room and my wife can still watch her daily soaps.
It sure is more complicated to support from a developers point of view but the PC is the future of gaming! Or can you upgrade the CPU or GPU of XBOX? No, you can't. Therefore I have never owned a gaming console and I will never buy one.
