Do I need to play other Divinity games to fully understand this one, if yes, then how long dose it take to beat the other games.

It won't take more than a few weeks, really. :p

Go on... go for it. smile Divinity 1 rocks like hell. BD(a side expansion) wasn't exactly my taste but you might like it. :p

You will not need to have played either Divine or Beyond Divinity to understand and enjoy Ego Draconis, but those who have played these games will of course have somewhat of a broader grasp of the general background of the game and recognise some returning characters. Having said that, I can only concur with Raito, div rocks like hell! smile

Well then, it seems I have no choice but play(I just love when characters come back from previous games), I just hope it isn't like Diablo and features an actual story.

Both games do feature an actual story. The start (and very end) of DD are a little heavy on the hack and slash, but there are enough quests, etc in Aleroth to give you a sense of the story, humour, etc of the rest of the game.
I played Diablo 1 and 2, but never finished either.

Humor!
Strange that's the first time I hear this word being in an RPG, and now I'm exited.
Thanks that's just what I needed.

Alex,

You can download the trial version of Divinity from any game demo site like fileplanet. It will feel like Diablo at first as you go in the first dungeon. But you'll see that there are tons and tons of books and diaries from other npc's. Most of this stuff has nothing to do with the main storyline, but fun to read. Most of the game isn't in dungeons.

If you get the full game, be sure to look up and see how to get the Larian Armor (silver breastplate upgrade). Need a guide to get that as there are no hints in the game and Larian had to spoil the quest details for anyone to get it. The NPC's in that quest are hilarious.

When reading your comments I can only say that you then have to play div! wink
But I wouldn't advise you to try out the demo, the demo wasn't representative anymore for what div really became in the end.

It would still give a feel for the game, though, even if it was based on code a few months before release, and is a little heavy on combat. After loosing interest in Diablo, just the few quests in Aleroth and the character / item / world interaction was enough to make me want the game.
Actually the main problem with the demo is the fairly large file size (400MB) considering you would probably not want to finish the demo and then re-do the beginning catacombs in the full game right away.

The Beyond Divinity demo is smaller (and shorter), but starting in a prison there is not much for quests or character interaction. The combat system it fairly similar to DD, other than having two characters (stat and skill systems are different between the two games).

Well there is that exploit to move beyond the demo (save after you meet Zandelore) and can explore. But graphics for land, buildings and monsters are missing and pretty much impossible to play after a while. Was fun to see how far you can get 3 months before the game came out. Though I don't post much, I'm here since before Divinity was released.
