Well i know that ego draconis is coming up soon, so i was wondering if i should prepare my laptop for it. My configuration is Intel Core 2 duo 1.7, 2.5 gb ddr2 667hz, video: intel chipset family 965 (384mb). Will it be enough?
I'm waiting for your opinions guys and also any metods to upgrade video or anyting else?
Thank you, and glad to be back! smile

I believe it'll be enough (unless we get another hungry-like-GTA which I think won't happen).
Maybe the GPU will be a breaking point?

By the way, what are the real system reqs?

I admit I am not an expert on mobile GPU's but apearently the 945 chipset has a "Intel GMA X3100" graphics-chip. And according to (google and) a test from 2007 is was 40% worse then Radeon X1300 or Geforce Go 7300.

Both are not exactly what I would call good graphic-cards and neither are up to date.
So either I misread that and misunderstood that, or you despearalty nee a new grapic solution for that notebook. On what to get I would suggest to wait until someone with experience in that field answers here.

Simply wait for a demo (if they release it) and then try to run the game.
Another thing is that you can buy a relatively cheap ($250) PC that'll run the game atleast three times better than your laptop with no problems.
I was never a laptop expert but I think that these upgrades are just too expensive and not worth the money.

It depends, will Larian add support for mobile chipset... and if they do, will they support integrated graphic chips, in your case GMA X3100... My mom has HP 6710b notebook and it has x3100, I've tried COD4 on it and it didn't work ... so wait for a demo or go to system requirements lab web page and run the scan (don't worry its safe)

Larian said awhile ago they were targeting to have D2:ED run on Geforce 7800 video cards. Based on this mobile graphics card list, I think you will likely have a problem.

Unfortunately, laptop graphics are very rarely upgradable, and I don't think anything that starts off with integrated video would have that option. The CPU and memory should be upgradable (unless they are already maxed), but they are not really part of the problem, so it wouldn't help much upgrading them.

Well, thank you guys! I can just hope it will work for me, because i talked yesterday with some expert in laptops, and the diagnostics aren't good, i can't upgrade the video. Seems that i need to buy a new laptop if it won't work on this one. Good luck to all!

Buy or make a gaming PC. Laptops are just not good for gaming. You spend more and you get less performance than a normal PC. If I was you, I would keep your laptop for work, because even a low spec laptop can run MS Office and email and stuff, and then make a proper PC for gaming.

You might be able to bump down the quality of the graphics and run it on a low spec PC, but really, if you want to enjoy modern PC gaming with average or above average graphics settings, you really need a dual core with at least 2Ghz, and a graphics card like a 9600GT or equivalent, or better.

PC gaming isn't a cheap hobby, so basically, my advice is do yourself a favour and worry about getting a good spec normal PC, and not a good spec laptop that will cost a lot more. With laptops, half your money is going towards the miniaturisation.

yeah, an intel graphics card is basically a 'no-go' for any decent PC games. I disagree that laptops are no good for gaming, it's just that you can't upgrade them like you could a gaming PC. But there are plenty of laptops out there that fit the bill, you just need to make sure you've got a good graphics card... which usually makes most such laptops quite a bit more expensive. I got my girlfriend's laptop recently and it had a 9600M GT with 1024 MB VRAM I think. It runs any game I've played on it smoothly, and as I'm not really interested in shooters and benchmarks, I'm sure it will do so for a few years to come.
