He's the dwarf jeweler you get Dante's brooch from. I have looked through the dwarf village in Rivertown headed by Gregor Dunatrim twice. Is this the right place? I've talked to every "Dwarf Jeweler", and I haven't seen a dwarf wearing an Elmer nametag.

The dwarven jeweler is in the Dwarven Halls, in the south west section of the Dark Forest (entrance near the archer's guild, in the south west part of Rivertown). There is no rush on this quest (I cleared much of Rivertown and Verdistis, and then entered the castle, before going to the Dark Forest), though you can head there whenever you wish (if your level, equipment, potions and/or playstyle are sufficient for the creatures there).

thanks! (all the way around)

so far I really like the game; plan to get beyond & ego draconis once i finish. I've got most of rivertown cleared; just went to verdistis last night. I can definitely go down there (axe level 23 warrior). don't remember such a building down there, but i'll look and see. smile

is there a way other than 1hitting to prevent the dark cave vampire from stealing stats?

i found a fun way to use a frost weapon. i got a frost staff that does 5-10 damaage and i took it into the cursed abbey. lol ... i tried to keep all the enemies frozen at once. because it took like 4-5 hits per to kill them. made it challenging and i still took damage.
you can do the same with the heavy orcs. (just be careful when the giant heavies & wardrummers come around)

The vampire steals stats once, and only if you agree to sacrifice yourself to save the boy (1-4 stat points are randomly lost, though most often it is 3). There are no negative consequences for not saving the boy, other than failing that particular quest. This is the only negative stat penalty, though, and there are several stat and level bonuses in the game that can more than make up for it.

If the vampire is using a Life Leech type attack to drain hitpoints, then a higher spiritual resistance would probably help, or just use a couple extra restoration potions.
