Yo, I picked a wizard as my character and i'm starting to regret it. The potions hardly do anything (even the "Super Mana" which as far as I can tell, there's nothing super about it), I don't regenerate mana, and I now spend more time looking for a freakin bed than I do playing the game. I just downloaded the new version (I was using 1.29) and i'm hoping that this might address some of these issues but I doubt it. As far as I know, there's no skill that lets me regenerate my mana. This is becoming a royal pain in the [nocando] and it's a shame because I like the game overall. Also, is there any way to sleep on the ground? So far i've only been able to sleep in a bed. Strange... I can kill countless numbers of undead hordes, yet i'm still too much of a puss to sleep on the ground.

Another thing, the documentation was none too helpful on the topic of charming items. I'm lugging around all of these spheres but whenever I try to drop them on an item that has a "charm quality" of whatever, I can't seem to combine the two. Do I have to get this done at a shop or something?

Any help with these two problems would be much appreciated...

Thanks

Restoration potions can be much better than health or mana potions.

ALCHEMY SPOILER THREAD

Enchanting items - step by step (charms)

There is a portable bed in the house north of the cursed Abbey, or you can leave one teleporter stone beside a bed. You can combine two piles of straw to make a hay bed; once made if can not be moved, though you can make one in your inventory.

Mage: If you have lvl 1 in alchemy, you can create restoration potions, they are far more effective. do you know how?
Drag and drop a blue over a red potion or vice versa = white.

Sleep:
In a bed, there is a portable one in the game, want a hint where?
combining 2 haystacks to a bed, you may put that into your inventory, too
sleeping mats in some orc camps - are not portable
if you keep one pyramid next to your bed and carry one with you - dropping that one and teleporting will whizz you to your resting place

Enchant:

Do you have the enchant weapon skill out of the warrior path?
If you open your equipment window and click on an item with the charm ability, then this pop-up window should appear. Have you got that? Only equipped items may be charmed/enchanted.

If not: your window may open off screen. In which resolution are you playing? 800x600?

Dave's solution to the off screen problem

I've posted a reply to this on the technical forum. The short answer is that the pop ups are appearing 'off screen'. You need to close the program edit the config file to increase the screen resolution (if you are already at 1024, you can increase to 1600). Restart the program, click on a item that can be charmed, move it nearer the centre of the screen (check that it reappears here when you close it). Shut down the game reset the resolution and away you go - took me ages to figure it out.
I got frustrated when I played one game the whole way through with no charms and then when I started the game again I had the same problem.

Thanks for the info guys... i'm sure that the game will be much more enjoyable now that I don't have to spend most of it looking for a place to sleep in order to recharge my mana. This is actually one of the coolest RPG's that i've played in a long time (my all time favorite being Ultima VII), although I did get a little bored during the couple of hours I spent clearing out the lower dungeons of the castle fighting the liches and skeletons. Yeah, that got a little repetitive after awhile. Other than that, it's been a great game.

Thanks again for the help.

Isnt there a portable in the house north of the cursed abby, or is it north of the cemetary? It is one or the other.

yes to the left and below the church, and the bed weighs nothing in your backpack either

Yeah, when I first started the game I thought Addy was the worse character I ever created as a mage or wizard we did the same thing looking for a bed all the time. There is a bed somewhere you can put it in your inventory there is only one and I don't remember where it was must be in the begining of the game in the abby or the farmlands maybe someone else can recall its been like more than 4 months ago for me, and anyhow her mage skills got better and now shes really cool, we don't understand whats going on with the charms very much as sometimes there aviable and sometimes not but hang in there its really going to get better for your character.

Just a suggestion (because I'm playing a warrior, albeit one who's invested a lot more skill points on magic than she has on warrior skills), but if you're lucky, or you're prepared to reload like crazy, then you might be able to find a weapon you can use with the mana drain ability. I did, and I love it. Sure, it does somewhat less damage than the other sword I carry around, but it gives me the ability to keep on casting Restoration on myself if I need it because pretty much every time I hit someone, my mana goes up. I've hardly had to recharge my mana since I got this sword.
Granted, I spend a lot more time up close and personal than you do, being a warrior. But here's where spells like Freeze come in handy - Freeze them, then rush in and hack away with your mana restoring weapon. I dare say there are other spells that will allow you to do similar things.
