This must be a bug introduced in 1.33/1.34 after applying I restarted, since it was a long long time since I played anyway. Just got to the wastelands but noticed some oddities along the way. The dark forest(elven area) being the most noticible. I entered it for the first time and instead of being black the whole map was revealed to me. I had this happen in a couple dungeon areas also. I might have really high sight but not that high

this problem i just find out also!
background story: i bought (english) and it was version 1.29 i think. updated the game to 1.32. i backuped my saved games on cd -rom.(in win 98 SE)
then, after waiting a few months untill the new patch came. i bought new pc with win XP pro service pack1 full install of and put the backuped saved games back.
then i updated from 1.32 to 1.33a. and played further.
what i did notis was that in version 1.32 i visisted verdistis alraedy.
in version 1.33a, the map of verdistis was totaly black again. no provlem at all,
now i updated from 1.33a -> 1.34a
and for the first time i visited teh dark forest. now i see that tyhe whole map is clear. no fog of war anymore.
question , is it possible to "reset" the fog of war in a particular map, like the dark forest?
thanks!

For the Dark Forest, replace the shroud.x2 file in the saved game folder with a copy from the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\main\startup.v2' folder (or '..\main\startup' if you do not have the 1.34 patch installed). I checked that this would work, but don't know if there would be any other consequences. Probably not, but try this in a new save in case there are problems.
.x0 = Aleroth, Ars magicana, etc. .x1 = Verdistis, council hall

well , this is strange indeed. because i checked out the savegamefiles. just befoire i enter the dark forest. and i don't have a "shroud.x2" file yet. so i enter the dark forest , save under a new name . looked up that saved game and now the game has generated this shroud.x2 file. the filesize is 525 826 bytes.
now i replace them with the file from the run/main/startupv2 folder. but that schroud.x2 file is exactely the same filesize = 525 826 b.
and after loading this saved game the map of the dark forrest is still totally vissable..
how big is your shroud.x2 file raze?

The game only adds the .2 and .x2 files after the first time you enter the Dark Forest. Somehow your default shroud file got set to completely cleared. My shroud.x2 files (in startup and startup.v2) are exactly the same size as yours.
Try the file from the startup folder. If that doesn't work, maybe backup your saved games and re-install Divinity.

Raze: I redone my computer since I played last, and did a new install and then 1.34 patch and started a new game... When I got to the forest and several other places they were totally revealed. Maybe something else made this happen instead of patch but thought I'd put it out there to be checked upon.

i had the same problem also. the first time i fully reinstalled i upgradede first the1.33 patch, and then after wards the 1.34 patch.
i went in the dark forest for the first time, and find out that everything on the map was revealed.
then i did again a full reinstall and put the 1.34 patch directely over the game.
this time it worked!
but be sure you use a saved game were the shroud.x2 wasn't created yet (not been in the darkforrest )
