Where is the best place to report bugs? I reported a show-stopper in the help-tips section:

http://www.larian.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=378411#Post378411

...and have received no responses to my problem. What is the correct procedure? I can no longer play...and that's a shame, as I really liked the game.

Yes,
That would be the best place for now.

Who were you expecting to answer?
The devs can sometimes be busy.
Dev's maybe be looking at the post and reporting it to DEV's.
They may not respond immediately.

If your using the language hack.
It could be bug thats prone to using the hack.
If the bug is they will provide no technical help!

Usually someone from Larian would see the post. They read threads but don't often reply.

Is this game totally patched?
Did you use the English hack on it?

English hacked version, even legal copies, are not being supported as there are apparently some bugs with it that are not being released to the public.

I'm sure answering these questions will greatly help them out. I'd mention your answers in both threads just to be safe.

EDIT: Lmao! We both replied at same time...

Every time there I run into trouble on the road, there is always a dwarf at the bottom of it. Don't they know how to drive above ground?

Yes, it's a legal copy with the english "hack". Just so we know what hack we are talking about, it's the simple registry edit and a replacement dialogs.dv2

How would this affect a previously working quest item?

It seems more than a simple Registry edit and replacement of dialogs.
I don't even want to get into that anyway.

I don't know how it would effect a quest.
Although I've heard of the game hanging on load screens due to the hack.
So why not a quest?

Try doing a google search.
See If anybodys mentioned it.

Since you state "I don't even want to get into that anyway", then there is no way I can further explain my problem and what I've tried to resolve it, or receive any other help of any type.

Unfortunate

I really liked this game, but I guess I have no choice but to uninstall it, toss the DVD into the trash, and inform my sister that she wasted her money on this gift.

Thanks anyway

Well, Anfiel, that is one option you have. I'd just never bring it up again rather than hurt her feelings. This is for you to morally decide.

For someone that has been an avid rpg gamer for a long time, you should know this risks of hacking a game, every other game veteran understands the risks and consequences of such acts. It also voids the warranty and goes against the license agreement, can't read it in German but I believe it is agreeing not to modify the game files in any way. Most game companys would ban all discussion of this on their forum, Larian is going well out of their way for their fans.

As for where you bug is, I've yet to read the Dragon Stone Arena and not going any further than where I am now until the full English version comes out. Do you mean the top floor of the battle tower or is it a place where you fight monsters?

Thanks, LightningLockey, for your response.

Yes, I realize that modifying game files may in fact void my "warranty", but there may actually be other players that might benefit from my experience.

See here:

It seems that there is another player that has experienced this "bug". Is he also using the "english hack"? Might the devs here feel that that might be a line of investigation to be followed? Maybe it's not just in the hacked version that this issue is presenting itself...

The place where my stone/ring quits working is at Stone's Fortress Headquarters. My ring works all the way to the point that I step into the teleporter to enter Stone's Fortress Arena. As soon as I am deposited into the Arena, the ring no longer brings up the right side menu, allowing access to the battle tower platforms. I have verified this behavior from save-games from before and after entering the Arena, and from loading a working save-game from before the Arena, and playing through to where the ring quits working, which is again upon entering the Fortress Arena at the teleporter.

Either the teleporter itself is breaking the ring, or something about being in the Arena is breaking it, but the fact remains I can no longer play from that point on, unless of course I don't intend to ever enchant another weapon or armor item again. I just don't see that happening, not with Ba'al knocking me dead as he is now. hehe

this is by design, it's not a bug. the ds should work again after you have defeated stone and his friends in the arena.

Your dragon stone is disabled until you defeat Stone. This is by design. However, if you run outside without defeating Stone, it will stay that way (this is a bug). Bottom line: defeat Stone

...but that's the point. My Dragon Stone never works again after entering the Arena. I -have- defeated Stone and his pets.

Let me try this... I will reload to just before I entered the Arena, where the stone still works, and then I'll wack up on Stone again. Let's see if my ring will work after that....(this time)

Thanks for your response.
