what is read\write access. I read in various places on this fourm that the game needs read\write access to the install directory. how do i know if the directory is read\write accessable and how do i make it so. also how do i know if i have the necessary accesS rights. i keep getting the same 3 errors

the first error is this one.
divinty error
divinity was not correctly termainted the last time. It is recommended that all dynamic files will be cleaned up and that all configuration data will be resetted. All savegames will be still available Do you want to reset the configuration.
yes no cancel

pressing yes leads to this error
divinity error
unable to remove dynamic files. it is recommened that you cancel and make sure that the necessary access rights are avaiable to divinity to remove these files.
ok cancel

pressing okay leads to this error
divinity error
unable to write to installation directory. please make sure there is still free space on the drive where divinity is installed and that you have the necessary access rights.
ok

they always appear right after i exit the game and then try to start playing again, also if i save a game i get error problem saving to H.D.D.
i do not know how to solve these problems. i have manually deleted the files mentioned in the first error, this has no effect.
i believe my problem lies in the read\write part and in the access rights.
there are two users on this computer and we both are listed as computer admin (at least that what it says in the users accounts)

The read/write has to do with the properties of the map and files. You can see this if you do the following. Select the map-->rightclick-->select properties-->on the bottom there are 4 little bottons with discriptions: read-only,archive,hide, and one more(but cant remeber). Make sure read-only IS NOT SELECTED.

Then try again if you can run it, this can solve alot of problems.

Under Windows 2000/XP you can set up accounts that have limited access, to prevent files from being modified or deleted, programs from being installed, certain documents from being accessed (tax returns, etc.) by certain users.

"i have manually deleted the files mentioned in the first error, this has no effect."

If you can manually delete the files, I would think the game should be able to.

"there are two users on this computer and we both are listed as computer admin (at least that what it says in the users accounts)"

Well, you can't get any more read/write access then that.

Did manually installing the game avoid the CRC errors you were getting?
I updated the CRC files listed in the Troubleshooting and Manual Install Procedure topic to include the 1.34 patch, if you want to try that file verification method.

Hi sk8,

<sorry about all this but i want to play and have not recived ANY help from tech support at larian.>

My apologies, but I can't seem to remember a recent email with this problem.
Hopefully I can help you now.

Are you sure you have read rights?
How did you install <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" />?
