I have just finished playing beyond divinity without any technical problem.
I have now uninstalled it and I have installed divine divinity and actually started to play the game
at the time of the original download. Now every time I try to start thr game I get as far as putting in disc 3 and my computer freeses up. I try doing a Ctrl + Alt + Delete and nothing happens. Even pressing the windows button to return to the desk top dosent work. I have to turn the Computer off and restart it.
I have done a full installiation of the 3 CD pack and the version is 1.0034A.
By the way I live in Australia, and I know that made a difference for beyond divinity,
but I dont know if that makes any difference for divine divinity.
I am running Windows XP Home Edition Service pack3
I have an AMD Athlon [tm] 64x2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ 2.69GHz, and have 896 MB of RAM.
I run AVG anty Virus.
On the drive I am useing for the game I have a total of 39GB with a total of 5.00GB free
after divine divinity has been installed.

With the problem, maybe some file is corrupted or something, try reninstalling and switching video mode to software.

What videocard are you using?

Try putting the Play CD in a drive before starting the game.
If you did the configuration file edit I mentioned in your other post about DD, you should not need the Play CD until the blessing ceremony (late in the game). Since you did a full install, you should not be prompted for a CD when choosing a character for a new game...

Try disabling AVG's real time scan, and shut down any other non-essential programs before starting the game.

Before resorting to a clean install, try deleting all of the files in the '..\Divine Divinity\Run\Dynamic' folder (with the latest game version, if you reset the configuration files at least once after a crash when prompted, the dynamic folder should already have been cleared).
This folder is used as a cache for the game. Files are created / copied there from the save game folder when you load, and written / copied from that folder when you save a game. The files will be re-created as required the next time you start Divinity. If there was a corrupt file in that folder, deleting the files should fix the problem.
