I'd rather pay the same for a collector's edition (like the German pre-order on Amazon.de), but I would certainly be willing to pay more. It doesn't look like any English publishers are going to release one, though (I don't think there are even any pre-order incentives for the English PC version, and not much for the XBox version).

Is the UK PC version the same as the US one is going to be?

Except for the packaging (and possibly copy protection chosen by the publishers) I'd expect the UK and US versions to be pretty much the same. An extra month might be enough to get a couple more fixes in, but I'd expect their main focus would be on an overall patch.

Can`t wait for the North American release so I have preordered the download from UK which comes out on the 20th of November. It will be in my e-mail at 00.01 on Friday morning. I will buy the hard copy also when it comes out in Norh America as I like to own the physical disks of the games that I own. ( I know its a waste of $$ but Can`t wait and it will support a good game company and its worth it in my view)

I preordered my Divinity 2 copy from shopto.net in 04 November. Shopto says Divinity 2 will be released in 20 November (which is tomorrow by the way). But, game sites show the release date of Divinity 2 as January 2010. So, is this shopto.net release date true and will they send my copy tomorrow (which will be awesome by the way)? Or, am I going to wait for January 2010? By the way, shopto.net has changed Divinity 2's platform from PC to Nintendo Wii. I hope they won't send me an irrelevant Wii game.

Waiting for the shiny Divinity 2 disc then to spin in my drive. Sometimes, it's so hard to understand publishers. US and UK versions are both same, but 45 days between their release. Funny.

US and UK versions are both same, but 45 days between their release. Funny. US version video and cutscenes are in NTSC UK would be PAL. Different middlemen and distribution centers to deal with in both countries. Also, why not let those guys across the pond play first? They can work out the bugs and maybe we'll have a working patch for the US version when it comes out in Jan.

I can understand the waiting time between for ex, german and english version. Because, there is a localization process and such. I'm thinking American publisher is waiting for the Dragon Age Origins' sales cooling off, don't want to leave Divinity 2 in the shadow of DAO I think. European-based RPGs' sales don't fare well in the US territory, and American gamers always have some biases to these games (I can't understand why). So, planning your release date in the US is very important for these kind of games. This is my opinion. By the way, shopto sent my copy of Divinity 2 (PC version, but Wii version according to shopto ) yesterday, right after I had writen in this forum.

I'm still confused on what is going on with Divinity 2, is it only being sold online, because EB games has never even heard of the game before, yet it was supposed to be released on the 13th, according the website?

Well. Just order it Online or go to another gamestore. Not everywhere has it in the actual shop, since hardly anybody may not have pre-orded. Thats what a guy said at a gameshop in the UK.

Is there anyway to get D2 by digital download in Europe? Direct2Drive or Steam or something similar, because honestly retail is being a mess atm. Some stores still state it as "pre-order" even though they are suposed to be released at 20th november, others are listed for sale but there's no stock and no date for it to arrive, others stores havent even heard of the game. I don't have much time for walking around from store to store just to get a game, having a digital download version in a respected channel would be quite good imho. Thanks Edit: AH ha ! just discovered GamersGate http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-D2ED/d...adwords&gclid=CJ3krujyoJ4CFYOOzAodqWO4lQNever bought anything there, any feedback from ppl here on there?

I would have pre-order the game if I knew nobody in Canada was actually going to have the game in stock on their listed release date.
There was no incentive to pre-order the game (other than the Gamestop Xbox version bonus item, which IMNSHO was not a huge incentive). There was no special edition, no discount, no mousepad, no secret dragon slayer decoder ring.... Anyway, checking various Canadian sites, everyone stated there would be a couple day delay after the release before they would ship pre-orders. Now normally when a game is listed as being released on a certain date, it is in stores on or shortly after that date. The stores were not simply listing the official date, since it varied slightly from the 4th to the 7th, so presumably these were actual release dates. Therefore, by pre-ordering, I would be delaying getting the game, compared to just walking into the store on the release date and picking one up. The marketing for DD wasn't that great, but I didn't have any trouble finding it on the release day.
I don't know if lack of pre-orders contributed to the delayed release, or if Canada is just an after-thought for the US publisher, but there probably would have been more pre-orders if it hadn't looked like there would be a penalty for doing so.
