I've come to collect a huge amount of books, read them all.. but now they just fill up my backpack.. what do i do with the non-quest books like history books?

You can sell it, destroy it or stock it in your battle tower. Unfortunately, there is no other solution... I tried also to keep as many books as possible in my backpack, but you just can't -__-

i too was trying to save them up for storage at the earliest possible time.
but ive been playing a few hours and ive seen no storage and had to destroy several books in the field... i suspect most people will unless they ditch ore/plants in favour of books

Well... even if you have destroyed them you always can find another copy. Works for "common books", like "History of bla-bla-bla" and such. Some unique books can't be re-obtained (Locke's journal, etc...)

As far as i know you just have to have read em, and they are of no further use. Well, for the game, that is. There is at least one exception, but that one doesn't really let you check your books to find out... You either memorize the books, or save, and go by trial and error.
