Say; you are a mage and have a good 2handed sword. You took 2 handed sword speciality as your skill. It actually shows that your magical damage is increased in the stats screen but the damage you deal to monsters are equally the same after you taken that speciality. When casting a spell that is. Is this considered a bug or there is something i don't know about magic damage?

It is weapon dmg not related to spells.
Almost all weapons in the game have 2 types of dmg. Melee and magic. Magic based on intelligence and melee on str. Same with bows just instead of str it based on dex.
For example at the moment I have 390-450 melee and 120-160 magic. That doesn’t really reflect total dmg but give a good idea what weapon to use.
You can raise spell dmg by adding skill points.
