How are your skill points being used? Did you hunt down and kill about every other monster in the game before the island? Did you do all the quests?

To wake the guys up, you need to use the item they are dreaming about on them.

NPC's (non playable characters) that have a ? above them offer quests. Ones with an ! means you need to speak to them to progress or finish a quest.

Possibly playing the game again with the knowledge you currently have to level your character might help if you really get stuck.

wow, thanks LightningLoskey again for replying!

What I meant actually was that there might be a dungeon where I might go time and time again for experience and to level up. But it would have to have decent experience points awarded. I think there is that underground one at least in Broken Valley at first and some goblins and stuff regenerate.

But here is a thing I noticed - ATTENTION PLEASE! - on Sentinel Island I came across groups of three elfdragons and one of them was either a self-healing mage or there was a mage healing another fighter. And this guy kept regenerating so fast that my arrows did not have the power to kill him unless i fired as fast as i possibly could. Basically, this guy just froze there and did not fire and if I had not overhwelmed him, it is possible that I could have gained endless experience by just shooting him enough to keep him alive. I gained like half a level from just killing him and I did not realise that I could have carried on.

This guys may be a way to break the levelling thing and if u save the game during combat then u could possibly gain a LOT of experience points.

This could be useful, and its not outright cheating.

Thanks Lightning Lockey, i'm looking forward to reading what you think about any special opportunities for levelling and gaining XP in the game.

hey.. Laiv... the citadel that priest asks you to check out is, Lord Lovis's tower. and if u r on Sentinel Island i'm sure u've finished with that.

above the place where u meet with Lovis, is another room, with a skeleton trader (who prefers u avoid all existential questions) and in there u'll find a scrying stone... which is what the priest wants to study.

oh and in no part of the game do monsters regenerate. neither do u get exp for endlessly shooting arrows at one that's being healed. u only get xp for killing 'em. it's possible that u managed to kill a monster that was a few levels above u and so, u'd get a lot more exp points for it.

my advice, find the healers/summoners and go for them first. if u r already on Sentinel Island and don't want to restart, go at the higher level villains with u'r bow and stay out of their range. stack up heavy on potions and u'll be leveling in no time!

thanks zachus,

i managed to get past those guys by just sheer persistence at the time.

But I really meant to ask if there was a way to level up quickly. I will now probably go back,if i saved it, and I want to see if I can level using that guy.

After, I'll be able to tell i this method of levelling works. For now, I can only say that the guy definitely regenerated health because I shot him like 30 times and his health kept going up constantly. In the end I was killing him faster than he was regenerating. In a matter of seconds I acquired the XP for half a level.

I'll check this out and post the result. He was just one of those critters in groups on sentinel island.

There is no way to level up fast and become really strong. Unlike Divine Divinity, this game is more linear and you gain xp along the way. However, it is possible to miss experience by not finding all the quests.

Don't level off monsters that are hard to kill, chances are if you are attacking real hard to kill monsters (where two kill you off) then you most likely missed some lower level stuff. I've found dungeons full of goblins so late in the game that they didn't give any xp as I was too high of a level.

As for the saving thing, I think it be too much work to be worth doing. Better off to save before getting a quest reward and keep loading the game until your offered something good. Same goes for shops when they restock.

yeah thanks for the save game before quest rewards and sellers, i'll use that.

I guess I'll try to find out tomorrow if i can use that guy to level more than two levels.

Just imagine if you could level 10 times in half an hour. This is only about as much time as it takes me to find keys and secret passages in the game.

lol i invested quite badly at the start of the game into various stuff and i destroyed a lot of equipment I couldn't carry so some extra XP could be useful.

If this works, maybe there is a group like that in the Fjords.

Hello Laiv,

A hint:
don't forget you can use a skill so you can carry more items in your inventory! (Skill: Encumbrance - or - Packet and Ready)
... 1 or 2 points is enough I think and later on, when you retrieve your Magic "Battle Chest", that problem with carry to much is over, past!
And in your Battle Tower you can unlearn all skills and learn over again skills you want for 5000 gold (the first time, second time "unlearn all skills" costs 10 000 gold and so one... ).

Are you already going to the Orobas Fjords?
When I was Level 13 I killed imps of Level 18 (one by one!) and yeah, very good high XP for that grin
