Hi I just started playing Divinity 2 on a new laptop PC. All is well so far except for one problem: I cannot cast a spell. I chose mage class upon leaving Farglow, and have fireball spell listed as quick spell at bottom of game screen.

But when I press left mouse button, it just swings the mace. How do you cast a spell using keyboard/mouse controls?

You might be able to remap slot 1 to left mouse button?

Else if that's not acceptable - then you can always pause the game, choose the spell, choose the target, and then unpause the game to fire off the spell

Lrft mouse button is default assign as weapon attack button. If you did the mage training during farglow, you should know that press the 1 key on your keyboard will fire out the spell, which is usually assigned to the 1st key slot in your at the quick list at the bottom of the screen. Quick slot keys are range from 1-9 by default

Yes, that's where I got stuck, but everything is ok now. I went back to my Farglow saved game and looked at inventory screen more closely. I eventually pressed 1 to cast the spell at the goblins. The game manual is not as detailed as other game manuals. And I admit I could have experimented more...But thanks for the clarification.

The game looks and runs awesome on my system, with no snags. I have an 'almost' new Gateway laptop with 4 GB RAM and 1 GB NVidia 9800m GTS VRAM, with display settings cranked up to extreme at 1200 X 1920. Very enjoyable so far, thanks again everyone.
