Larian Studios Forums Divinity 2 - Ego Draconis (English) Technical problems graphical artifacts? Bug or video card?

Long time fan of the series with a question. I noticed when switching resolutions to 1440x900 my screen will produce colorful graphical artifacts. The artifacts only appear in game. My cutscenes, bottom menu bar, radar, and help boxes are all unaffected. When I exit the game to the options menu or go back to the main menu those screens are also unaffected. It seems to be only in game that I am able to reproduce the affect. If I exit to the desktop and then go back into the game the issues goes away, however, the resolution will now say it's 640x480. The funny part is that it's clearly not 640x480. I think it's actually set to 1440x900 by default despite the menu option saying 640x480. I've had that, "match desktop resolution" setting checked and unchecked but it does not seem to affect the game.

Is this my video card or an in game glitch causing the artifacts and resolution issues?

XP with SP3
AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto 3.1GHz
G.SKILL 2GB DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
Powercolor HD 4870 1GB

All drivers updated and issue is only with game not on desktop or any other game.

I saw graphical issues the one day - couldn't figure out what it was. The very next day - my power supply died.

The only other instance of graphical issues I've encountered with other games was due to the heatsink not properly seated / defective video card.

What about other resolutions than 1440x900?

I think it's similar to that black screen issue I'm reading up except I don't get a black screen. I get a screen covered in colorful artifacts. Same affect I guess where I can't actually see anything outside the the title menu, cutscenes, menu bars in game, etc. The playing portion is all messed up. I'm not sure about the resolution. It looks like it's set to my native resolution which is 1440x900 despite the resolution tab listing 640x480. Every time I actually try to set it to 1440x900 is when things go crazy. I have to exit game and go back to get the visual issue to stop. I just want what is listed in the resoultion tab to match whatever resolution I have the game set to. I don't actually know what resolution the game is set since whatever I choose above 1024x720 sets off the artifacts. I really only tested 640x480, 1024x720, and of course my native which is 1440x900. THe ones below 1440x900 work fine.


I also did a test with the game. I left the game running for like 5 hours on Extreme and no artifacts popped up. As soon as my changed my resolution at the end to 1440x900 it messed up immediately.

this game dont like ati cards . try other drivers the new not always is better
