So I just picked this game up from best buy, figured there's enough pirating going on so I'd purchase legit. I install the game and run into this error message;

C:\Program Files\Divinity II - Ego Draconis\Data\Win32\Packed\Dialogs.dv2

An error occurred while trying to copy a file:
The source file is corrupted.

Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (not recommended), or abort to cancel installation.

I click retry same thing occurs, I pull the disk out to check for smudge mark, scratches, etc. It's clean. I decide to click ignore, start playing the game, I get english text but no voices whatsoever. I figure out pretty quickly that this dialog file that won't install happens to be the voice acting for the game. And I slowly begin to realize why people don't purchase games anymore. Things like this happen and make you realize how much of a waste of time, and effort it is when a brand new game just out of the box is showing signs of problems. Anyways, any help would be much appreciated, I'd like to actually be able to play this game and hear what people are saying, I do hate to read when playing games.

How can anyone help you? You managed to get bad media. Just exchange it at the store.

I suppose you could find that file on the internet somewhere easily enough, but you bought the game, don't you want a good copy?

That's what I figured it was, but I just needed that little confirmation to be sure before spending 10 bucks in gas to drive back up to the store :P, yeah with gas prices up to about 3 bucks a gallon and driving a big old ford truck that's about what it costs. So i wasn't going to do it unless absolutely necessary.

When I installed the game on an other computer, it works fine...

What system do you use?

Do you have another optical drive, or system, that you can try the DVD in? A different drive may be better at reading damaged disks, or better at error correction, if there is a problem with the DVD itself.

You could also try manually copying the file off the DVD to the appropriate game folder.

Did you shut down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before trying to install the game?

Well I went and exchanged the game, just attempting to install it now, guess we'll see if it was the disk or my system.

My computer ain't the greatest but it should have no problem playing this game, I play dragon age on max graphics with no problems.

Xp home edition. AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 4600, 2.4 ghz. 2 gig of ram, and im running nvidia gforce 8600 gt video card.

It could defiantly use an upgrade but it makes no sense for the dialog not to work, i'll give an update in a few if this disk as well errors out on the dialog install.

it got past it this time, can't say if it was the disk as I restarted my computer, got rid of kaspersky and installed avg before installing new disk. So it could have been anti virus interference, i have bad memory leaks so restart could have fixed it, or.. could have been the disk. Three possible things for you to test out, hopefully one of them works.
