I am a newbie and have just started playing the game.Alot of questions came into my mind and I need help from fellow gamers

1) How do I use a teleportal stone? I only can picked it up in the catacombs but clicking on it doesnt do anything. I tried putting in on the portal slab nearby and it doesnt do anything too. Is the portal slab used only for one-way trip? Is the portal slab and teleportal stone related or work independently? I have heard about activating something from the hints, so how do i activate it?

2) I noticed some magic skills show 8+ 20 damage or something like that. Or axe skill that show additional 4+ 10 damage or something like that. What does it mean? does it mean u add the 2 numbers together or is it a range? why do they need to seperate into 2 numbers?

3) Whats the difference with every class since every class can learn other class skills (apart from the starting skills)? I am using male warrior, when i up my constituition by 1, my HP +6, when i up my intelligence by 1, my MP +3. is it the same for other classes?

4) I still cant find a way thru Madaneus's(the old man that turn Lanilor to ice) locked door. Maybe i need higher lockpicking skill? does high lockpicking skill open doors/chests that are vital to quest completion?

Pick up the teleporter stone (drag and drop into inventory) and keep it for now, or leave it there until you get the other one. You need to get into Mardaneus' house to free Lanilor...

The portal stone there is a one-way trip; there are some pairs of portal stones that you can teleport back and forth between. They are a similar concept, but separate from the telepoter stones.

8+10 = 8 + (zero to 10) = 8 to 18 damage.

See differences between classes (minor spoilers)
or the bottom of Early Starter Tips (NON-Spoiler Version) for most of the same information

Talk to Lanilor, he should give you a hint to get into the house....

There are keys or levers for most quest related doors/chests, though Lockpick does come in handy.

Gday!

1) The portal slab is not related to the teleporter stones in any way. You may have noticed the door beyond (to the left) of the portal slab is locked from the inside. The portal slab is there so the player doesn't get locked/trapped into that particular area if the player teleports to the second teleporter stone while carrying the first (given by Lanilor). That area can alternatively be accessed as part of the normal progression through the dungeon under the first town, but it helps alot with healing if you have both stones before starting and place 1 next to the bed in the room where you start. Just don't try to take out the guys in the room if you do teleport into it, there way too powerful.

In order to use the teleport stones, one must be on the ground, while the other can be either on the ground or in your inventory. If a teleporter stone is in your inventory, and the other on the ground, you can only use the one in your inventory to teleport back to the fist, but now you have no way of teleporting back because your carrying the second one.

Thats a little confusing isn't it? Just play around with them to get the hang of them. Usually you place 1 next to the bed (e.g. the one where you start the game), and when required, drop the second one, use it, rest, return, and pick it up and continue on. I use to have panic attacks playing the game on whether I had remembered to pick the stone up after returning from resting.

2) Yes, it is a range, and as you said, adding the two numbers gives the maximum range value, while the first value is the minimum.

3) Check the well just to the east of Madaneus's house. Some quests do require points in the lockpick skill, although you can find/purchase items that grant +1 to particular skills. You do not need to assign any points in the lock pick skill to finish the game.

Good luck!

Then find another way in... Ask Lanilor.
