I've got a high powered gaming rig and I'm struggling to get the FPS in Divinity 2 to 10! I can run Fallout 3 almost maxed out but I set the graphics in Divinity 2 to minimum and can barely get 10. What gives?

I'm running XP sp3, I put the priority to High, I have the timeslice animation and shadow updates on, I have the settings on my graphics card on default (to avoid conflicts) and Catalyst AI off (heard of that fixing things). The game and my drivers are all patched to up-to-date versions. But all to no avail.

My computer is capable of doing much better than this! That tells me it's the game. Anyone know how to get the FPS up to where it should be without sacrificing graphics detail to pity a buggy game?

Nope, I've seen that post in about 6 other threads.

I guess we need to know. What do YOU consider a "high powered" rig.

I have

i5-750 (cranked to 3.6Ghz)
4 gigs DDR3 1600
ATI 5870
Win 7 x64

Everything maxxed. Can get about 30-60FPS (depending where I am). The game is NOT a great performer, but far from 10FPS.

So, tell us your specs?

My rig is very very comparable to yours, except my board is maxxed at 2gigs of ram. I know for a fact my computer can do much better, but it's just not doing it.

Here in Broken Valley (my main character is new) I'm getting 3 - 12 FPS.

Edit:
I just increased all my settings to the "Extreme" preset (except for the resolution) and turned on both timeslice checkboxes and restarted. It didn't touch my FPS one bit. I'd fully expect going from 3 - 12 FPS at medium/low settings to extreme settings surely would have bolted my FPS to 1. However, aparently my educated guess is wrong. Weird!!

Why have the resolution stuck at 800x600 at first? And at such low resolution fps shouldnt be that low

I've had it with this game. No one should have to start and restart and restart and reboot for two and a half hours just to get a game running at a fraction of what their computer is capable of. Combine that with a lack of results to fix the issue and I've had it. I'm done. This game is getting deleted and Larian Studios is going on my gaming blacklist. I'll never be buying a game from this company again. You all have been great but it's time we went our separate ways. So long everyone and good luck to you all.
