Larian Studios Forums Divinity 2 - Ego Draconis (English) Technical problems Game Will Not Load

I'm not sure if this is an ongoing problem, but when I purchased the game I had a GeForce 9800GT. I decided that, that video card was not enough to run the game, because it was on the lowest settings and kept having to stop every 2 secounds to load or whatever. So I just got in my new video card, a Radeon 5870. It works a ok with every game except this one. With Divinity II it refuses to load the game. I tried deleting the temp cache files. Then I re-installed, btw I got the game through Steam, but neither option is working. At least it started on my 9800GT. Any idea why it won't work? I really liked this game, I just wanted to play it without constant lag.

This is not a hardware issue.
Iv'e got this running on a 7600gs/9400 and an 8800gt.

A few things could be the issue here:
Drivers: Check what version of gfx drivers you're using, and try different ones.

Resources: Sometimes you will have a few processes running in the background that causes problems with certian games. Start/run msconfig "or for vista just start and type msconfig" from here you can tell windows what services/processes to startup with windows.

Virtual Ram: You may have enough ram to play this game, but alot of software needs some Virtual Ram to run with. Control panel/system/advance and edit the vram size here. I personaly always stick to 2gb-3gb.

Game Launcher: The exe could of been coruppted somehow, replace it from the dvd and try again. Or if you're using Vista, then try some compatability options.

As every computer is different, if you can post you're computers specs when you make a post like this, gives us a better idea on what could be the problem.

Sorry I didnt post my PC specs. The game worked when I had the 9800, but as I've upgraded to the Radeon 5870 it will not load at all. I purchased the game through Steam, so I couldn't replace the exe, but I did uninstall and redownload the game again with no improvments. I also have the latest drivers for all my hardware.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+, 3100 Mhz
Installed Physical RAM: 4.00 GB
Total Virtual Memory: 6.50 GB
Video Card: Radeon 5870
Sound Card: Creative Xfi

I just saw the sticky right above my post saying other people are having simular troubles. Sorry I didn't check there first. I installed Dx 9c, installed Nvidia PhysX Drivers, installed C+ software. Still the game will not load
