I have several recipes and the neccessary ingredients; have visited the enchanter Dreavan, but I still can't make potions. Why? Any help would be appreciated.

You need to get someone else to make the potions for you.

Once you get the Battle Tower, you have a dedicated alchemist to make them for you. Until then, try milling around the village...

Dreavan is an enchanter who adds enchantments to equipment. You need an alchemist which can be found in the battle tower or under the mill. You get under it by finding a key in the pot near Upton(it's under the lettuce). Then unlock the door downstairs and go underground and talk to the big tree.

Talk to the Tree under the miller/alchemists house in the village. The Tree can make potions for you once you have the recipes. The tree will automatically learn the recipe. The recipe scroll then is gone from your inventory and the tree can make that potion if you have the ingredients. If you talk to him, and afterwards still have potion scrolls in your inventory, you can sell them because they are duplicates of ones the Tree already knows. Watch out and don't get potion and enchant scrolls confused... they look the same but are not. The enchant scrolls work the same way with an enchanter (Dreavan to start with, then in the tower later). Hope this helps.
