I finished the "Vigor Mortis" quest and it seems like the game is pushing me into building a creature out of dead body parts. I just don't want to play this way. Is the game balanced so I can finish it without having to use necromancy?

I'm not sure about that, but you will have a real tuff time though in some places

No, you can stuff the Cystal Skull in your bag and forget about it, but you aren't really doing the wet work on it, the necromancer is. The creature helps a lot and it isn't really necromancy as far as I'm concerned.

But you're collecting the dead parts for him. It's pretty damn morbid if you ask me and I'm surprised Larian figured everyone would consider it fun to do so. I rather not have any part of it even if it is more "ethical" (using death from natural causes) than the usual type of necromancy.

To complete that quest, first
go to the western edge of Broken Valley, and then follow the canyon wall south until you come to a mine - it's just past the fortune teller. Go inside, but be warned: it's very dangerous if you're level 8 or lower.

I agree. The game is pushing you, and not using the creature will sadly make the game very tough in some situations (well, the game is overall unbalanced after all)... I was hoping some kind of a "tamed animal" alternative will be offerd for those who dislike this necromancy thing, but sadly Larian didn't made any. I hope mods will be allowed in the future and somone will make a "tamed animal" mod alternative to necromancy or something, even if I gerneraly dont like relying on NPCs at all.

I use a creature simply because the game will be hard without one, but I really don't like this aspect at all, I'm surprised Larian didn't make any alternatives for players like us...

The first time I play (on the most easy difficulty) without any use of that creature wink
