I am upgrading my PC to be able to play new games like div2 ego draconis.
I am wondering: now I have XP and the game works. If I upgrade to win7 does the game still work?
What is the best OS for it.

Also buying new processor, motherboard, memory. Just to keep playing with fun. I am a gamer and like to enjoy my games.

Thanks for your answers.
Great to know the games work on Win7.

For the build I have help from my husband. He knows a lot of these things.
Problebly a AMD 4x quad core as processor.

I think some had the game on win7 and its working, so if you plan to upgrade, you can just go ahead. For MS OS, I prefer to have at least sp1 available before I will move to the newer platform.

If you moving to win7, better to upgrade your gpu to the latest ati 5x series, as to take advantages of the dx11 tessellation on some newer games.

I have Win 7 64 bit pro and the game is working fine. (64bit for use with more then 4 gigs or memory, 32 bit can really only use about 3.25GB of memory)
The OS is the least important thing though if the game supports it. Pretty much any game that worked or works on Vista will work with Win 7. I've not had one that did not yet. Now some old XP games won't work so that is why I went with pro version as you can download the XP mode and virtual PC to get those old games or programs to work.

I've not had a single crash (BSOD) with Win 7 that I have not caused myself by setting a bad overclock on my processor. Have not had any problems with any of my other programs either as far as them working.

Any preference on a Intel or AMD build? If Intel I can help you with your choices or give suggestions on if what your thinking about buying a good choice. Don't know too much about AMD, just enough to get by.

Good place to get help on either type of build is the EVGA forums. Nearly everyone over there is pretty helpful and a lot of knowledgeable people over there that don't throw that knowledge in your face. EVGA forums
I go by the same user name over there by the way.

I was using XP Pro on the computer I was using for gaming, and Div2 ran perfectly, built a new one and put Win7 Ultimate x86 on it, both computers are AMD, now running Div2 on this computer and had some issues with Stuttering, HardLine has a repair for this, it even makes my Win7 machine boot faster and open a couple of memory intensive apps boot(PhotoShop and UT3) faster and they seem to run faster too if you go to Win7 and use MS Office, you'll need to be running at least 2003, seems that 2002 don't like 7, win7 does a lot of things better and easier than XP, but you need to get used to a new OS, looks and handles completely differently, but I'm liking 7 more and more
