I seem to have a problem :-( I can get into the game simple enough however when I reach the creation screen for my chap in game he is visible however it looks as if he is in shadows dark and such and the surroundings around him are black except a few colors once past this I fount that when I was engaged in the first conversation as well as many after that that the background and such became like that on the creation screen I also seem to have black circles in certain areas that appear in blobs blocking out nearly the entire area they are in or in small areas such as on logs and such when I enter these areas it causes me and the entire area to become almost solid black would any one happen to know a way to resolve this issue?, as I recently got the game VIA Steam and I would like to play it ^^.

Thank you for any information on this problem hehe.

Try disabling HDR lighting (see HDR settings).

If that doesn't help, have you checked for updated graphics drivers?

Did you check the graphics configuration file? As I mentioned in the first topic I linked to above, one person reported that the change wasn't actually applied going through the game options, and they had to disable it manually (editing the configuration file in a text editor).

Hello, I just bought Divinity 2 (PC) yesterday and I am having the exact same problem as the OP. I have tried everything:

~ downloaded/installed patch 1.03
~ updated NVidia drivers (including the PhysX driver)
~ Disabled the HDR (check in the config file and the value is indeed set at 0 (zero))
~ have tried tweaking each and every graphical setting

But even with doing all of this, I still have areas of black circular deep shading, like black "blotches" where it's very dark and hard to see. Other areas the graphics are perfectly normal. Almost the entire Farglow area is enveloped in this "black fog".

I'm not entirely technically inclined (LOL), so it would be appreciated if any suggestions on how to resolve this issue were put in simple layman's terms.

Did any of the graphics option tweaks have any effect on the dark areas?

Someone mentioned running the game as administrator and (in Vista/7) disabling desktop composition in the compatibility options to fix a different graphics problem, though you may have tried that already...

Try emailing support@larian.com.

Nope, none of the tweaks had any effect at all, sadly. I'm also having the issue of severely slow game-play, but at this time the graphical issue is my priority. I'm running under Windows XP and have scoured this forum for any possible fixes (which is how I located this thread buried way back on page 8 or 9, LOL). I'm at a complete loss as to what to try next. I had hoped someone else that had had this problem would have that magical solution, but I guess I'll have to break down and email Larian. frown

It seems such a shame that such a promising game has so many issues (as seen in this forum). I've bought and very happily played both Divine Divinity and Sacred Plus and never had issues with either of those. I plan on purchasing Sacred 2 as well, but I'm almost afraid to spend the money on it now, after having these issues with Divinity 2. frown

Ah well, thank you for your response, Raze.

Support forums are always filled with problems, regardless of what percentage of people playing the game encounter issues.

For Sacred 2 you could try the demo (if there is one) first. There can be problems with a demo not in the full game (if it is based on an earlier version of the code, for example), and the full game can have problems when the demo worked fine, but in general a demo should give a fairly good indication of a game's performance, compatibility, etc.
