Well after a bit of effort the game began to work without a hitch up until the part that you leave the temple crypt place heading into sentinel island soon as I zone in I get the fallowing error and crash to my desktop "Divinity 2 has encountered a problem and need to close" so I suppose a windows error of sorts, Iv not had this problem up to this point so I am not quiet sure what to make of it either grin any information or help would be appreciated.

I have had this happen a few times over the course of many hours of playing. It has never happened repeatedly in any one spot. I learned to always hit the quicksave before any transition just to be safe. No clue what the cause may be.

1. Same thing happens to me in this same place, every time. Can hear the sounds but the screen is black. Crash to desktop. ps. Do you have VC++ installed?

2. Also crash everytime when trying to get into the bandit camp after talking with the new order squad leader. Crashes back to desktop every time.

(Oh yeah, and on Launch, after the logo screens, I have a black screen for 2-3 minutes everytime but no crash.)

Radeon 4800, Steam release, Updated XP 32.
Up until these two repeatable crashes I had lots of graphics problems but sorted those by turning shadows all the way off and turning vege detail to high, shadows off also stopped the 'wood' in the village barracks and elsewhere from glowing... There are some sick mushrooms and ferns around the village where the texture UV's appear to change when I walk... Whatever lake is far below in Ourroborross Fjords is as black as oil from far away.

Looking forward to a patch, the game is great, but the bugs spoil it. Larian QA, hang your heads in shame.

Yes, and that's the error I get when I try to load my savegames. Something about microsoft visual c++

Ahh, and so I begin to suspect that the game is deliberately throwing debug exceptions in some places and not in others. Mr(s). Developer, have you been forgetful again? smile

Well switching off JIT debugging doesn't fix anything. The main issue is just as OP describes, everything seems to be working "fine" so far except Sentinal island (... and the bandit camp)

Well I fixed my sentinal island crash problem by (one of and/or in combination)

I'm not near my games machine so much is from memory

Removing the graphicssettings and also the settings files (xml I think) in the Local Settings/ App Data / Divinity2 / Profile folder and so letting the game use it's default config.
Removing all but one savegames.
Uninstalling MSVC++ Studio.
Uninstalling all MSVC++ redistributables (I had about 6 flavours)
Using Driver Sweeper on everything it offered me.
Reinstalling Graphics Cards Drivers
Reinstalling PhysX
Reinstalling the MSVC++ redistributable that cam in the steamapps/.umm./support folder
Using the Larian PhysX Reg fix thingamebob in the steamapps/.umm./support folder
Removing All codecs in the device manager,
Installing WMP 11

Not necessarily in that order.

I had all but given up hope. I suspect it was either removing MSVC++ or settings and graphicssettings (leaving achievements) that fixed it in the end and leaving the game to use its default detail levels. facepalm.

Theres some truly truly wonderful work in this game, Larian you're completely forgiven. Thanks for the gift.

Do other indoor locations have a problem, or is it just in the barracks?

A couple people have run into this problem. Unfortunately, I have not seen any reports of a solution. You may want to email support@larian.com, if you haven't already.

Can't get into any door, game exits to windows
