i,ve played fable 2, oblivion and now divinity 2. these are the types of games i enjoy. i have bought others thinking that they were of the same type only to end up giving them away, because they were just to complicated. all i want is a sword a shield and some armor and go out and maybe play at being the good guy. i don,t know if this is the place to be asking about this but i would appreciate it if someone would be able to reommend other games like these. it get's expensive buying and not knowing what your getting. i can't ask at a store, i usually buy from amazon because i,m pretty much house bound. hope you all can help.

actually i'm finding divinity pretty hard but i am having a real good time with it and want to thank all of you again for your help with it. you all have kept me going when i would have quit long ago. so again thanks. of course i hve a long way to go yet so you'll be hearing from me quite often.

i play on the x-box 360

Hello
Talia

I will sugest you some games from different sub-genres.Its always good to learn new things

I will sugest you anything from Bioware becaose their games are high quality

If you didn"t play fable the lost chapter,I would sugest geting it
Its pretty cheap right now

Fallout 3 is also good game from Bethesda studio but Its not magical world. It is post-apocaliptic(I know I didn"t spell it right)world with weapons such as pistols, lasguns and swords. It have a large map interesting for exploration.

There is also Risen although I did"t really like it

I am Bioware fanboy so I will explain their games

Dragon age origins is my fav game but its little complicated(D&D rules) and its 5 times harder than Divinity 2.Harder is becaose this is old-school RPG where you can win only with good tactic. If you want to complete everything that game offer you will need 1200 hours+.Its turn based and It have amazing story fuul of betreyal. Its like a good book. You have party of four companions and you have interesting dialogues with them, romancing options...Only If you are ready to learn something new.But I would skip it becaose you really don"t have necesarry experiance.Try later for few months.

Kotor is also turn based game with magnificant story. You have party of 4 i think(can"t remember).well gameplay is 80% like Dragon age but game is much, much easier. My recomendation

jade empire is game for you.Again party with story but real time combat where you use fist and
kung-fu to beat the hell out of opponents.Although same as Kotor. No heavy armor.

Mass effect 1 is hell out of game.Again real time combat with guns, story, party bla bla bla.

Well thats pretty much that

Also titan quest is great game
But for PC
Its little old but not complicated

hi raven, i have dragon age, it's one i was talking about being complicated trying to figure out the others in the group. i still have it though. i also had too human but gave it away for the same reason, fallout 3 i didn,t really care for. i have fallen angel sacred2 but haven't lookd at it yet. also have one called golden axe beast rider, again haven,t looked at it yet. oh, forgot, i played prince of persia, did pretty good with that one but after just a short time found it to be pretty easy and ending was a let down. I,ve noticed risen on amazon and will give it a try. I will also check out bio-ware web site and see what i might like and let you know.

There have been several topics about this kind of thing for PC games in the RPG Chat forum. Some of the more recently mentioned games may have Xbox ports, though a new topic there might provide better results.

What are people playing?

WHAT have you been playing , while waiting for DD2

Fable lost chapters is a cool game. Pretty similar to this, but the game actually felt completed and you could either be the hero or the villain(or rather the secondary villain/villain that kills the first villain)

I would tell you to try DD 1 the first part of this game. I think you will love it. It should be selling very cheep. I receved a free copy with BD2 . It is a older game but I think you will like the play stile.Have fun in your gamening.

My recommendation would be Baldur's Gate series - which arguably is the best RPG of all time. At least it got me into gaming! And in my late twenties, too...

Maybe start with the first game, and then proceed to BGII, because the first will seem a little unglamorous after the BGII

While BG is a party based game, the party controls are very, very user friendly, and this game can even be beaten as single player game once you have bit of experience with the combat system.

However, since the party interaction is absolutely delicous and fun, you shall want to bring along companions I predict. smile Plus BG forums are really nice - you will get whatever help you need along the way. The story is really well written, you have countless sidequest, you have brilliant characters, you have simple yet satisfying gameplay... It remeains my all time favorite still, after many years.

NB - I am pretty much a RPG fan, but I struggled with DO:A party combat system - I could about manage, but I did not delight in it like with BG.

Give it a try - I hope you will love it as much as I do!

Second recommendation: Neverwinter Nights (II especially). This is much more straightforward and linear story than Baldur's Gate, but your party AI is very simple to manage.

In the first one, you actually don't - you just choose one person to tag along.

In the second, I levelled up actively, but did not manage the party too actively in combat except excpetionally. I especially liked the second game, it was well written, and the compagnons were very enjoyable.

For openended exploration (with plenty of evil to root out with your sword), Morrowind is to me the standard to which other games should aspire to. I personally prefer it over Oblivion any time.

Ok - copy your problem.

Changing your platform for gaming alone is surely not worth it - that is why I have made a desicion of principle to stick with games that run on PC - I think you will come to a point in your life where a PC will come handy.

While bying a PC for this reason alone would be a bit wasteful, you might want to consider the fact that PC is a standard tool in work and study ... with the added benefit of games of course.

I am actaully a Mac fancier - and I am running Win XP on my Mac just to be able to do some gaming. So it could be worse - you might have a bastardized operating system on your HW! smile

In light of your answer, does Witcher run on 360? It is a pretty new game, so I think it might be more likely to than the "classics" I almost, but not quite, recommend getting a PC for. smile

Just to note: it did not offend me at all, but as a female gamer, I found it a bit silly that there was quite a bit of casual encounters ongoing in this game (optional though) but all were written for guy lead player.

This game was at times quite hard, but still beatable, and is a very muvh a "save the world with your sword" type of game... but, whatever choices you make will impact the later parts of the game, so the "consequence" system of this game would be a highlight in the same way as mindreading is an original, enjoyable feature of Divinity 2.

And influence system in Neverwinter Nights - really brilliant, I think you would like it.

i have a pc, that's what i'm using right now but i don't think it's the right type for gaming, at least that's what my son tells me and he would definately know. as far as that goes, i don't really know that much about computers or game consoles. i'm 60 yrs old and have really just started using both, although i have been using the computer for quite a while. my knowledge is limited though, what i know i learned on my own. i'm going to stick with the xbox though, they seem to be coming out with newer and better games all the time, i just need to learn how to play them. i wonder if i should make it so i can go online with it?

If it is not platform related issue, i.e. you are Ok to play with PC (I am not OK to go for game specific platforms because I have very nice HW otherwise) then my recommendation is that chat with your children or friends to go for a better PC that can handle games.

The current system requirements or price for such computer are not very high at all. All you do to play is to plug in the DVD and istall, and you have very nice variety games available.

If in doubt, start a post in a forum stating "This is my budget, and I want to play this and this, what do you recommend for PC?"

I was sort of thinking you had issue of principle against the PC platform - if not, upgrade, and enjoy the freedom of choice between 360 and PC. Unless recession has put your HW upgrades to zero, I find PCs to be a good worth of money for a platform.
