Hey to all fellow forumites!

And sorry to be ranting on my first post here... but, since I am now forced to reinstall my whole game after trying to install the patch 1.3 I have time, and I am a bit frustrated.

Spoiler alert.

I got stuck in the Laiken tower because I could not find the body in the rubble, and the Reveal spell (googled that in case I was missing something) so I wanted to run the patch before reloading regrettably a very much earlier save.

I admit, I should not have left the game running in the backgound... but well, I did.

So I got fatal error of my version not being compatible, and had to uninstall, now I am reinstallig, and probably have to start from the scratch. Dang! frown

Anyone else had this glitch, or compatibility issues after patching?

Besides this, a great fan of the original Divinity, happy indeed to be playing this! smile

You should not have to restart; the save games are not kept in the game folder. IIRC there is a disclaimer that not all fixes and changes in the patch can be applied retroactively (ie it may not fix a particular problem if it has already occurred, but will prevent it from happening), but the saves are certainly compatible after installing the patch.

In XP the saves are in the folder

C:\Documents and Settings\ %username% \Local Settings\Application Data\Divinity 2\Savegames

or in Vista / Win 7

C:\Users\ %username% \AppData\Local\Divinity 2\Savegames

You may need to set Windows Explorer to show hidden files and folders.

Also, don't worry about ranting in your first post; if people don't have a problem or a question, they generally do not post.

Thank you Raze for the very kind reply! smile

Um... Too late now... I unistalled the game and the savegames seem to be gone. I could have in fact backed them up, should have, but well... the intellect came with the evening train.

I also have the slight quirkyness of running XP on Mac which normally works quite OK but I know it is not the standard combination.

Once I get the game running again, I think I will find a way to find the positive on the fact that I shall know how to level up more to my gaming prefences etc.

Guessing from your "timestamp" - were you a fan of the original divinity, perchance?

Even running XP on a Mac, uninstalling the game shouldn't have deleted the saves...
I guess there could have been a problem with them, but hopefully when you get the game reinstalled your saves will show up.

I joined the first forum shortly after DD was released, and have been hanging around here ever since.

Regrettably, I might first time ever be running into a real XP on Mac compatibility issue. frown

I namely finished re-installing, rerun the patch, and "Windows had to close down" when I tried to relaunch (you know the annoying message one gets when Internet Explorer just can't handle it). After running 1.3 patch, I simply cannot relaunch the game!!

I am now reinstalling once more, and shall not run the patch, and hope it may be OK with the Laiken tower if I go for the main thing first without being distracted by levers and globes and such like...

No joy with saves if the game does not run, but let us hope it does.

I think I discovered DD maybe in 2005 - but was not on high speed internet then... But at least I was living in Belgium at the time! smile

And hey Nero - by the looks of your profile, you are almost at the same Grand-Pop gategory! laugh

Except to have a grand-parent in scope of seven years would indeed require another species besides humans...

EDIT: cannot handle the smilies either... let see if THIS one works.

It did - yea!
